This is good and 3 bikes fit very well. It is resistant although you need to tie it very well. This means the cords are super resistant but you need to make a knot even after you use the latch properly, specially if you have the 3 bikes.
I used it while driving even in the highway. It is good. However, and here comes the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The stripes that goes to the bottom of the car, if you have a SUV or you have a hatchback, may not be possible to grab them as it shows in the picture. The rear door, depending on the design and the size of the car, may not be able to hold the straps from the metal. Therefore we came to hold them on the side as well. So you will end up with 4 straps to the side and 2 to the top part.
The design was clearly done for cars witth a trunk.
I have a small SUV. This might be different for someone with a bigger SUV. But a small hatchback will have to make it work the way I am explaining.

I bought this bike rack for my 2013 Honda CRV (LX). I had gone to the Allen Sports website to verify that it would fit and it seemed like a great value and something that would work perfectly for me. I debated whether to purchase a one or two bike rack as I am the only one that rides, but I ended up opting for the two bike rack hopipng that my spouse would (at some point) become interested in riding as well. I will try to give some tips that will hopefully help you decide if this is a good fit for you, and also some tips on how to best use it:

1. Check the Allen Sports website to see if it will fit your particular vehicle. DO NOT take it at face value when reviewers on here say it DOES or DOES NOT fit a certain vehicle. They may not know how to install it, or they may be installing it incorrectly (i.e. unsafely) in order to ‘make’ it work.
2. The instructions for mounting the rack are fairly good but you really have to read them closely – ESPECIALLY when it comes to the bottom hook. The top and side hooks are fairly logical and self-explanatory… although make sure you use the correct hooks for top and side. The top hooks are bigger/wider than the side hooks, and the side hooks are also labeled.
3. KEY for certain vehicles – this is the issue that ALMOST made me think that this wouldn’t work for me (even though Allen Sports said it would). The bottom hook has several ways to be utilized, depending on your vehicle. The main issue is whether you have something metal to clip the hook to. Today many bumpers, and even the bottom of cargo doors are a hardened plastic, OR they have no ‘lip’ over which to clip the hook. This was the case for me… and even though I read the alternate ways to solidly connect the bottom hook, it wasn’t apparent to me at first. Ultimately, you don’t really connect that bottom hook TO anything, but instead open the trunk/cargo door slightly and put the hook inside and close the trunk/cargo door back, which secures the hook inside the vehicle and you just tighten the strap.
4. Depending on your car, and on your risk tolerance, you may want to consider using electrical tape around the hooks (some or all, depending on your vehicle) to help cushion and protect any paint. Since my vehicle is a 2013 it wasn’t an issue I was particularly concerned with but I did go ahead and opt to do it – figured it was easy to do and certainly wouldn’t hurt anything by doing it.
5. Definitely do something to secure the tires, to keep them from spinning, and inthe case of the front tire, to keep it from swiveling and hitting the vehicle. You can use the excess on the tie down straps, or just use a bungee cord.

The rack works perfectly on my Honda CRV and is actually even more steady/firm than I was expecting. Overall I could not be more pleased and am ready to hit the road!

This is a very well-built bike rack and I’m going to use it for a 6 hour road trip with 3 bikes. I tested it with a short trip to a local trail with two bikes and it performed well.

Set-up was fairly easy. I just followed the directions and it was pretty simple to attach to my Honda CRV. Some reviewers complained about the metal hooks, but I found that they had a smooth coating on them that should keep you from scratching up your car in any way. Just be somewhat careful when attaching.

Traveling to the trail I noticed a bit of a “squeaky” noise coming from the rack. I believe that may have been caused by the soft rack support “bumper” rubbing on the rear car window. A slight repositioning of the bikes for the return trip seemed to make this go away. I noticed no shifting or problems with the rack once we got to the trail. The bikes were still securely attached and I had even made some quick starts and stops and a few hard turns, but the bikes were solid.

The only thing I don’t like is the fasteners that hold the bikes onto the rack. Other racks I’ve used have a rubber “latch” that is quick and easy to lock the bike onto the rack. These holders require you to thread the strap through and back to attach the bike. It’s not terrible, but kind of a pain to do something that used to take seconds and now takes minutes. Oh well. It’s not a terrible drawback, but I knocked off one star for that design deficiency.

Removal of the rack was quite easy. For each strap, simply lifting the latch on each strap seems to loosen it sufficiently to remove the hook from the car. The unit doesn’t take up much space when removed from your car, so that’s a big plus too.

Overall this is a great value for the price. I recommend this rack for all your biking needs.

I recently bought a new bike and needed a trunk rack for transport. Without much deliberation, I chose one of the more affordable options available for next-day delivery, thinking it would be just a temporary solution to get my bike home from the shop. To my surprise, this rack exceeded my expectations and I’ll definitely be keeping it for the long haul.

The initial setup was straightforward, taking about ten minutes. Now, I can easily mount and dismount the rack in under two minutes. Once installed, it holds the bike very securely—I’d even trust it for long road trips. I’m genuinely impressed by its performance and sturdiness, prompting me to write this review, which is something I seldom do!

Buena por el precio me llegó bien todo, empaquetado y todo bien, pero tenemos 3 bicis similares a la de la foto, y como esas solo caben 2 por los manubrios, suspensión incluso quitamos llanta delantera y ni así. se fija bien y es súper fácil de instalar, solo que no son para 3 máximo 2 de ese vuelo.
