I added this to an overpriced Samsung TV with the typical underpowered built-in speaker system that has absolutely no midrange, an inaudible but overly loud low range, and no center channel at all.
Immediately upon testing, I noticed the low end was overpowering and now have that set at the lowest setting (1) — even there it feels a bit loud to me. On the other hand, that’s probably to make up for not having a subwoofer (which I don’t need or want).
The most important feature is the drastic improvement to dialogue in movies vs. the built-in Samsung speakers. It’s no secret that modern films are mixed with almost all dialogue in the middle channel. If you don’t have a middle channel, voices are mixed into the surround and become muddled to the point of ruining films.
So this is exactly what I needed: Good build quality, modest surround sound, excellent center channel clarity, no subwoofer and passable audio quality. Mostly out of laziness, I have this connected in passthrough mode with HDMI ARC and Atmos enabled. It has required a reboot once when it updated in the middle of a show and seemingly froze — but otherwise has performed brilliantly.

This is a nice upgrade from the sound of the TV speakers, but not anything like a home theater system. It is similar to listening to your TV through a Bose radio, with a nice rich sound. Don’t expect to be able to blast this sound bar like a home stereo, as it will disappoint. Luckily I read many of the previous reviews and this is want I expected and wanted.

The features like Dolby atmos works really nice. You have to play a little with the smart sound eq in some movie, but overall I loved it

I’ve read a lot of reviews about soundbar and did a lot of research before settling with JBL bar 5.0 multibeam. I even compared this with the Sony HTS2000 and the immersion and soundstage that the JBL produced is far superior. Make sure you update the soundbar and the easiest way was to link with Google home and it will connect to your network and will update itself automatically. Also, do the room calibration and you’ll hear the difference. They said that it won’t pass through HDR10+ only DD Vision but it does. I’ve plugged in my Apple TV 4K to the soundbar and EARC connection with my Hisense TV and I’ve checked the information from the TV and it detected HDR10+ contents coming from my Apple TV 4K passing through the JBL soundbar. Bass was very punchy, surround sound was very well presented and the Atmos FX are quite convincing. The only negative I can say is. It doesn’t support DTS but if you’re just streaming movies and shows. Dolby is the standard and dominant sound codec that is used.

Have hooked it up multiple times to my TV and it doesn’t stay connected!! Half way through a movie it turns off the sound quality isn’t what I expected for the price either very disappointed
