I put off replacing my Comcast/Xfinity rental modem/router for way to long. If you are browsing and halfway considering doing it, buy this modem.
1. It’s significantly cheaper than the brand new version since it’s certified refurbished. It looked brand new out of the box and I had zero issues during set up.
2. It’s a Comcast/Xfinity supported device. You literally plug everything in (same exact cords on the back of your rental modem), go into the Xfinity app, set up new modem, and type in the MAC address on the bottom of the unit, wait a few minutes, and set up is complete.
Boom. Your set up is done. $40 and you no longer have to pay the $17 a month or whatever it is for the Comcast/Xfinity rental.
For anyone who is confused, this is a modem and not a Modem/Router combo. You need to also buy a router that you plug into the back of this which gives you your wifi. I coupled this with the Google Mesh Wifi 3 pack (which was about $180) and now I have consistent, fast wifi in all areas of my house.
Not a single complaint.

It works as advertised, reached the advertised speed 800mb/s. Easy installation. So far has no issues.

This modem looked great out of the refubished box, and it didn’t have any visual signs of wear or tear. However I could not get it to come up on Xfinity’s network. It would get stuck at BPI failed. The first three tech support calls I worked with call center individuals who said they were doing everything possible on their end but they couldn’t see the modem come up on their network. The third call scheduled an engineer to come out to my house (free of charge thankfully, as it was supposed to be a free self install) and I was changing from Business Class Comcast to Residential Class Xfinity service, before the scheduled engineer arrived I was visited by a different engineer who was there to pickup the Business account equipment and when I told him I couldn’t give up the modem until I got the residential working he tried to troubleshoot it in the house for a couple minutes and determined I had good signal to noise and his belt slung tester worked at the jack I was plugged into. He took my old cradlepoint and ups and left but came back 15 minutes later and said he found a filter on my line at the tap in the street. This got the modem further and I was able to lock upstream channels but was still stuck at BPI security failed. I tried calling Xfinity support again but the wait time was taking forever so I decided to cheat and use the phone menu option for add services, the person I got was just as able to activate the modem as the tech support agents (so if your hold time is too long, try going the “add new service” route lol) and she worked on it for 30 minutes and even removed the modem from the system while I did reboot after reboot and factory reset after factory reset. The scheduled engineer arrived and confirmed the same thing the first guy did that there was nothing wrong with my line but he took out my splitter in the garage and left me with a newer better quality splitter in the bedroom where the modem is. He couldn’t get it working and he called his internal tech support team and they confirmed they could see the modem starting up but not registering on the network. He left unsuccessful, I tried calling Xfinity again and went the sales route again and got a guy who worked both tech support and sales and he knew exactly the problem I was describing and he got into part of the system where he could see the modem booting up on the network and he could send it commands and firmware however it would still never get past the BPI security issue.
In the end I had to return the modem and buy a different new modem which worked fine. Our suspicion is that the modem had been registered on Xfinity’s network before and the customer likely stopped paying the bill on their account but returned the modem to Amazon and Xfinity had some setting somewhere the regular tech support agents couldn’t get to in order to unlock the modem.
TLDR: buy new, don’t buy refurbished

Spectrum had some kind of clerical issue with my equipment otherwise the install was simple.

Works fine but expect to have to replace it when a storm comes over. And they will not repair it.

Sometimes you take a chance and it doesn’t work out.
Connecting to WOW for the first time, it was able to get a WAN IP, could see the CMTS modem on the other end, but failed to authorize. WOW said that any DOCSIS 3.0 modem should work fine but this one wasn’t sending back any signals they could see (curious how I was able to get an IP then). Motorola said the internet provider would support any software updates and to go through the retailer for a refund if it doesn’t work. Planned too far ahead and I’m well outside the return window too. Classic spiderman pointing at spiderman shenanigans.
Read the reviews next time. Don’t buy refurbished. At least this one will be trashed like it should have been already.

Way better than overcomplicated netgear, no need to contact customer support to connect.
