A bit more anal to run than the Epson 3880 I formerly used, but the results are just wonderful.

I’m sure the P900 is a fine printer when it works. Unfortunately I never got to appreciate that. The printer arrived looking quite new, with the normal startup cartridges. However once I got going into the setup routing it became clear that this printer was never going to work. The plastic pipes that carry ink from the cartridges to the head were all clogged with dried-up ink from a prior owner, no way to clear it out. Back it goes.

the 3880 i loved finally gave out after 10 years so i replaced it with epson’s next version the p900.
there’s very little good to say about the 900: the build is flimsy, the printer leaves ink blotches on every print, the software interface doesnt support adjustment to color, saturation, etc the way the 3880 did, user defined paper sizes dont format properly, the scaling feature doesnt work.
all very consistent with prev reviews. hard to imagine anyone looking for a professional quality printer being happy with this product.
unfortunately, it seems like you now have to spend $2000+ to make the kind of prints my 3880 did. sad but not surprising

The initial ink charge does use most of the ink in all of the cartridges, so do make sure you have a second set on hand from the start. When I am doing large prints there is a bit of black ink smudging at the very start of the print. By bit it is about 1/16 inch wide by one inch long, but don’t see it on smaller print sizes. It may also be that I am cutting 17×25 from a roll and feeding as individual sheets. Also have not used it long enough to determine if it is a real problem, or just something just because it’s new
