The book on it’s own would be kind of hard to learn. It’s sometimes hard to figure out exactly what they’re wanting you to do by the drawing and the arrows that are pointing whichever way your hand is supposed to be moving. Though they do have the videos online for you to watch and that helps being able to see the people moving. However, it’s 2 guys signing to each other so they tend to turn to face each other and so you can’t always quite see exactly what they’re doing with their hands either. Would’ve been better if they were turned to face the camera straight on since that’s how you would be signing to whoever you’re talking to, you know facing each other. So it’s good, and helping me along. But definitely needs some sort of improvement, even with this just being the basics.

Didn’t come with dvd but that’s ok. I didn’t buy it for the dvd. I have been trying to learn asl since November 2018 and I just wanted some books for when I didn’t feel like scowering the internet for input.

Para aprender la lengua de signos (sea ASL, BSL o LSE), lo mejor es aprenderlo a primera mano, es decir, en clase con otros donde se puede practicar en el momento y aprender en el conjunto. Al tener un libro así, te ves obligado a tener que enseñarte a ti mismo, y no siempre se aprende bien de esa manera. Si lo que quieres es ponerte en serio y aprender la lengua de signos practica, lo mejor es ponerse en una clase. Por ultimo, aprender LSE (o ASL) tiene que ser algo paciente, es decir, un año-dos años mínimo para tener un nivel básico. ¡Muchísima suerte a todos!

I was a little disappointed with this book. It is informative, but when it gets to the signing part, there are no explanations as to how the sign is performed. The visual picture is there, but an explanation for the sign would be more helpful.

This American Sign Language (ASL) book is the best. Easy to follow and great pictures that show hand shapes for signing. Fantastic, great tool, good way to learn ASL.
