I used Antares in the past but stoped using it because their stupid updates and their own app to download and authorize software. They need a real developer! That app just messed my Antares plug-ins and even I have a valid license it says that it’s expired!
I tried to contact tech support and guess what? They don’t have any!!! What?!?!
With all the money they get with this?!
I took a ticket, they responded 2 days later?!
That’s unacceptable. As an audio engineer you can’t wait two days, not even one when you have due dates.
DON’T WAST YOUR MONEY. There are other alternatives, even better!
One for All –
I wanted to like this plugin. I really did. But compared to the built-in real-time pitch correction plugin that is included with Logic Pro X, this one does not behave as well. My biggest complaint is it leaves artifacts that just sound goofy … I thought Logic Pro X could improve in this area, but the included plug-in just sounds better than the Access version.
I also tried the Auto-Tune Pro plug-in. As others have said, this one works much better, mostly because you can fine-tune the correction speed (instead of just having three settings), and more importantly you can adjust the “Flex-Tune” knob in the Pro version, where that setting does not exist in the Access version. Flex-Tune is probably the most powerful adjustment in my opinion … it can really make a voice sing in tune but with enough natural variation to sound like it has not been tuned (to most casual listeners anyway).
BUT … guess what, you can make tweaks in Logic Pro using the Flexpitch function (it is not “real-time”, but if you record an audio track you can go back and basically click and drag slight tweaks to the pitch so it sounds perfect while leaving in the natural variation desired).
My recommendation for most bedroom musicians using Logic Pro: learn to use the built-in tools first. They are going to get you 99% of the way there and are fine, even for pro quality productions. However, if you are a full-time musician, mixer, or producer, then splurge and get the Auto-tune Pro version which will allow you to make changes quickly and real-time while cutting a track. But unfortunately while Auto-tune Access uses the “core” engine of the Pro version, the features are so lacking and the artifacts so bad that it just is not viable for my semi-professional use and is indeed an inferior product in all aspects to what Logic Pro comes with. On a side-note, Logic Pro is full of features for $199, you get all of the updates, and is the bargain of a lifetime to get pro quality software at an entry level price.
