    I found this book to be extremely easy to understand and to follow the examples. The games are fun and engaging. I am quite new to using Spritekit so I needed something that would explain things to me as a beginner that would also take me into intermediate. This book did just that.

    This is by far the best SpriteKit book on the market. It’s beautiful and full-color. Easy to read and approachable. Tammy does a great job of _teaching_ you how to game program using Apple’s native libraries. Not only does she cover SpriteKit, but she also covers GameplayKit. Good luck finding ANY resource (book or online) that does half the job she does. I liked it enough that I bought both the hardcopy and the digital copy.

    I couldn’t find any up-to-date resources on programming with SpriteKit and GameplayKit LUCKILY for me the one that is up-to-date is a very helpful book!

    I had already published a game on the App Store, but that was years ago and looking at my old code was like trying to decipher some ancient language.

    Not only did this book refresh my programming knowledge but I picked up many many helpful tidbits on how to make my code read and work better.

    I consider myself a beginner Programmer so some of the later chapters in the book were quite challenging. Tammy is still holding your hand but its a very loose grip. I had to do a lot more reading and rereading, even doing some internet searches for the things I didn’t understand. I think I’m better for that and digging into it always felt gratifying and rewarding.

    This book is great for folks starting out with SpriteKit (like me) but I think it is even better for anyone switching from another programming language.

    I’ll be coming back to the code I wrote with this book for a long time to help me in my future.

    Throughout the book I felt as though I had a very knowledgable and capable teacher helping me through.

    I’m having a lot of fun with this book and learning a lot about SpriteKit and game development. The projects are great and the author really knows how to explain things. I also love that this book is in color. If you’re looking for an up-to-date SpriteKit book, you’ve found it.

    Fantastic book for getting started with SpriteKit. I have a background in programming and have had a difficult time finding good up to date resources for learning sprite kit and this book is absolutely the best I’ve found. Great projects covering a lot of concepts in great detail and with clear explanations. Unlike other resources, no time lost trying to fix issues or workout what’s happened due to steps being skipped over.

    If you want to get started with IOS game development, just buy it and enjoy!

    It’s an awesome book packed with lots of colorful images.
