The Arris was advertised as a compatible modem/router for Xfinity. Buying the product would save me a modem rental of $25 a month, paying for itself in just 3 months! Imagine my excitement when I unpacked it, downloaded their Surfboard app. Everything went fine until I hooked it up to xfinity. It absolutely cannot be self-installed. I spent almost 4 hours with their phone based techs and could not get a signal out of it. All the lights were on, the TV and phone were able to hook up to the WiFi, but we could not get it onto the internet. Either this refurbished product is a piece of junk, or Xfinity doesn’t look outside modems. Returned it immediately, after being up to 2 in the morning trying to install it over two nights. Avoid this one like the plague!

I don’t normally leave review but I had to for this product…This was the easiest thing to setup. I followed someone’s advice to reset the moment I plug in (so I did) once I plugged all my wires in it and went on my computer Xfinity picked up that a new gateway was plugged in they ask a few questions and BOOM! I had my internet up and running…Didn’t have to call customer service. It was perfect. Wish I had done this years ago, paid so much money to comcast for their equipment.
Update: Woke up one morning and my modem box is completely dead, only lasted a year. Had to get a new one.

I got this ARRIS SURFboard SVG2482AC-RB after I upgraded my internet service to 800mbps. And I am getting almost all of the internet speed from it. Very easy to install. It can be installed from Comcast/Xfinity app. It’s a great deal for internet modems, routers, and voice services. It has four 1 Gbps ports and two telephone ports for digital voice. Wi-Fi router supports AC2350 speeds and fast wireless connections for home internet. It also can be powered by a battery for emergencies.
Although it is renewed, I found no difference because giving the same quality as new, and the device looks brand new, too, with no wear and tear. It is in like-new condition and only has a refurbished logo near the power supply plug. It is a great way to save money and comes with a warranty. Better than paying $20/month for rental devices you don’t own.

I am fairly tech savvy so the lack of a manual was not too much of a hindrance, but I still wound up having to call their tech support line to get it set up. The tech was very friendly and helpful, and within 20 minutes we had my Internet connection up and running (including hold time), so no real complaints there. The device performs as advertised, and puts out great wifi signals at both 2.4 and 5.0 ghz. We run two smart TVs, a Ring doorbell, an Alexa, two laptops, 2-3 cellphones at any given moment, and someone is streaming most evenings and I have yet to notice any issues with signal quality. It is as good as my Comcast/Xfinity cable modem and saves me $14/month that I do not have to pay the cable company to rent theirs. I would buy again and recommend to others (just please make sure you include the manual next time!).

I had high hopes to a battery backup 911 phone line, modem and router “all-in-one”, but this specific unit was a trasher and the manufacturer’s support was very bad.
While it’s my fault that I didn’t try to install this before the deadline to return it, it reflects on Amazon’s refurbishment program that the device had serious problems when I got around to it (four months later). Could not connect to internet (after extensive diagnostics, including service provider’s technician spending an hour on it.) In addition, I couldn’t log in to the web-based settings framework. Ethernet didn’t register at all until after the first (of three) hardware resets. This couldn’t have all happened since Amazon shipped it, this strongly indicates that Amazon sent a broken product without properly testing it.
The device itself has certain issues with the manufacturer – their web page for this product does not provide a link to the manual or firmware update(s). Arris has no excuse either.
Lots of wasted hours by multiple people and interruption of an essential service – absolutely not acceptable.

this product is super easy to use. the whole issue with connecting with a carrier is the carrier does not have your serial number – mac address of the modem. So, unless you tell Comcast or other carriers that you need to give them your mac address, for your own customer owned modem it will not be recognized with comcast or any other carrier. let it integrate into comcast’s system so the carrier can recognize this unit. Then you need to get the BILLING department to xo your rental modem and ACITVATE your customer owned modem.
this is why you hear the horror stories of why the modems cannot be activated. Don’t be discouraged by the used part of this. These modems can work for years and years without an issue.

I have Xfinity 300 and this 7400 refurbished model works very well, it’s been 2 years 8/22 – 9/24 and we have had zero issues. X made the connection and setup – my range is excellent upstairs downstairs and even outside I am able to stream on TV &or laptop in all places around my home with no issues . I am very happy with this product.
