I installed 4 of these 2.5 Gbps Ethernet offer coax adapters in my new Mesh Wifi system as backhauls to each Mesh wireless adapter. It is amazing that these give you the speed that makes these wireless mesh units so much faster! They were easy to install, remember if you use more than two units to use Moca button.

If you want to run a cable longer than 150 feet the TRENDnet TMO-312C2K moca 2.5 adapters work. We are using 900 feet of the orange direct burial rg6 coaxial cable found on Amazon to go to a remote solar powered Starlink dish. we’re getting the full Starlink speed 250+ mbps at 900 feet. With the TRENDnet adapters.

Now for the good part: Yes this works, and it works amazing. I haven’t had any issue setting it up (plug-n-play) and it’s quite fast. It was much much cheaper than trying to run Ethernet up to my room but in most cases that isn’t true, carefully consider which path will be easier before buying.
UPDATE: These are great for plug-n-play if you have only 2, if you want to add to your network it can be a real pain to figure out how to get it to work as the instructions really suck, turns out you gotta go to the host adapter hold it down for 5 seconds and then run over to the one you want to add and do the same, anything else and you’ll probably have to start over.
UPDATE 2: I just hit 900Mbps for the first time, so it seems they’re probably not falsely advertised as I only have 1 gig internet and my router does not have a 2.5 gig port like my PC.

My house has two separate coax connections running to every room that was installed pretty recently, about ten years ago with the construction of the house. With pretty new cabling I got near the 2.5 gb speeds with two devices, and still at least hit gigabit speeds with three of these connected on the same network (and one is connected to an IP camera which is always transmitting).
The cons, it introduces about 4 ms of latency between the outer rooms going over moca and the router. Not noticeable in almost any usage case, but still a lot for going just one room over

Let me start by saying I don’t normally write a lot of reviews and that I normally do like Asus products (I’ve had 3-4 of their routers in the past and have also had a few of their bluetooth adapters and have generally been pleased by their products). With that said, don’t buy these Asus Moca Adapters if you already have an Asus Router. I wanted to install a second router on the other end of the house to act as a aimesh point with wired backhaul. I don’t have ethernet throughout the house but I do have inactive coax lines since we no longer pay for cable and use all streaming services. I initially thought this worked great, relatively simple and solved my problem. We started to notice there were momentary blips in the wifi (where the wifi/internet disconnects and then reconnects 1-2 minutes later) it was not like a router restart when it takes 3-4 minutes to come back online but quicker 1-2 minute disconnects.
I thought the 2nd router I had might be defective, I thought the splitters or cabling in the wall might be bad, I thought I might need moca filters installed somewhere along the line. The last thing I thought was that the moca adapter was bad since it always started up and was always fast to transmit/receive. After spending weeks trying another router, replacing splitters, coax and ethernet jumper cables, etc. the problem ended up being the moca adapter. I eventually found a couple obsure posts of reddit that stated similar problems. The problem seems to be that asus assigns these moca adapters the same default IP address as many of their internet routers. 168.192.50.1 so whenever you try to login to the router or do something with the router something must momentarily go haywire causing the momentary disconnect because of the multiple devices with the same IP. Some on reddit have solved the problem being manually changing the ip address of the router. I just bought Screenbeam moca adapters instead. I installed the Screenbeams this afternoon and 1/2 a day later everything works great and so far no blips and no disconnects. I think these Asus things were definitely my problem.

I purchased the MoCA adapters because of some huge loss of speed throughout my Mesh network. I have FRONTIER 2Gb/2Gb which is actually 2.38Gbps up and down. However, aside from my main gateway, the speed degrades significantly in many rooms throughout my 2 story house. ( I have Eero Pro 6E as main gateway provided by ISP and 3 more Eero Pro 6 throughout my house ). One of the rooms where I have my son’s gaming PC and some other equipment had one access point (Eero Pro 6) connected to a gigabit switch and the speed out of the switch (wired) was only 300 mbps on a good day and typically 200mbps (that’s close to 90% speed loss). I felt my money was wasted since I was actually using a fraction of my allocated bandwidth. I started with one pair of MoCA adapters the main one near my main router and the second in the aforementioned room. The speed out of the second MoCA adapter was found to be 2.2 gbps! So barely any speed loss. I added a couple more adapters, one next to each access point this way I am doing a wired backhaul through the mesh network. Wired speeds are awesome. Of course they are limited with network adapters which are occasionally capped at 1 gbps. Wireless speeds jumped from an average of 500mbps to anywhere between 700mbps to 1200mbps. Extremely satisfied. My theory is an average mesh + MoCA adapters will cost the same or maybe less than a premium Mesh but will have much better speeds overall.

Works as advertised, plug and play, took me less than 10mins. I have both unused COAX and some type of CAT5 cable wired in my less than 20yr old house. Not wanting to risk possible non CAT5e cables and making life easiest, this got me “wired” quality gaming at the opposite corner of my house. I will purchase a second set for running second MESH network.
