This is a great mousepad! Is it worth the money? I would say so. The surface is really nice and smooth. The edges are well stitched and it seems quite durable from the weight and thickness. Ultimately I bought it for the Evangelion theme, which I thought was thoughtfully designed and fits with the rest of the ASUS/Eva stuff. The packaging looks cool and is almost display worthy. I still haven’t thrown out the box.
The backing also doesn’t seem to be a magnet for dust and dirt, while still being able to hold the mousepad in place. Overall it feels like a premium product and I’m satisfied.

This mousepad feels amazing to play on. I use a Model O 2 wireless mouse and it glides so smooth on this mousepad.
The real important information though is how your cat will stand up to this. Well I’ve had the Scabbard II extended for 2 months and in the very beginning she clawed it a couple of times but minor and she doesn’t really claw it anymore after she realized how comfortable it is to sleep on it. This mousepad is big enough to do her big stretch when she sleeps and still have mousepad left over to game. She still bites the edges from time to time when she’s bored but its nowhere near as bad as getting your mousepad clawed since your mouse glides over it.

I just received the mat the other day, and have been gaming on it for a couple days so far. It is large. I purchased it to complement a new standing desk I got. The table is 70″x30″ or so, and the mat is about half those dimensions at 35″x15″, it’s just the perfect size for the table. The fabric is soft on top, and the bottom of it has plenty of grip, so no problems with sliding around the table. The mouse moves quite easily across the mat.
The price point might be a little high for some, for just a mouse pad, but the quality of the material and fabrication are good for the price paid. It does feel durable enough to justify the price point. Overall, I am satisfied with the price as well. Of course, if it get’s any cheaper or you can find a coupon, grab this mat!
The aesthetics of the mat are understated, no flashy RGB or wild printed colors. Just a black mat, red “Republic of Gamers” logo on the top left corner about 3″x3″ and “ROG SCABBARD” written across the top right side of the mat, about 8″ wide. It will go with any table and setup you might have. If you prefer the flashier RGB and whatnot, there are other mats for you. Really, the only thing that’s unconventional about this mat is its sheer size.
If anything changes as long as I have this mat, I will come back and provide an update.

I have been using this mouse mat for over three months and I cannot be more satisfied. I love the consistent smooth glide it gives in gaming and just general use. It’s spoiled me to the point I cannot use the computers at work because the mouse feels so sticky on the nasty old mouse pads. This will ruin you. If you try this mouse mat you will want a quality mouse pad for the rest of your life. Aside from the nice glide on the surface, I love the sewn edges (no fraying yet) and all the room to move around.
I’ve had enough time with it now for it to get spilled on and dirty and it is surprisingly durable. Spills roll right off but sometimes dirt can be ground into the fabric by my elbows and with a few wipes it comes out pretty easy.
The only problems to worry about are first, the mat is rolled up in the box so it may not lay perfectly flat at first, but it flattens out over time. Second, the ASUS and ROG branding is pretty blatant on both sides, which I’m okay with because I am a ROG fan. It certainly doesn’t look professional though. Third, many people have been complaining about air bubbles forming between the cordura upper and the rubber bottom. I have no bubbles after three months so I’m curious what causes that. It may be caused by humidity or by trying to wash the mat with water. Where I live is super dry so it’s not a problem. I think aside from that, the materials are spot on. The cordura is a perfect mouse surface and the rubber keeps this thing sealed tight on the desktop. Until mine starts bubbling I have to give 5 stars.
