I had trouble installing Windows 11 because there weren’t any drivers installed yet. I was stuck on the internet connection screen. I found a YouTube video to bypass that screen. Once I was in Windows Asus Armoury Crate popped up to install all my drivers and get me online. I immediately noticed the RGB on this board wasn’t working. It appeared I received a defective board. I hoped lighting wasn’t a serious issue and the board might continue to work fine. I only used my new system for two months. Today I tried turning on my PC and nothing happened. I tested my PSU and GPU and they appear to work perfectly fine. It appears this motherboard has already died on me after only two months. This is the first time a motherboard has died on me. They usually last many years of all-day use. I’m not an overclocker. The board simply died while I was in bed. I always completely power off my system when it’s not in use. I don’t know why it died while totally powered off. I now have to waste hundreds of dollars fixing my new PC. I’m currently back on my old PC but with the RTX 4090 and new PSU installed in it. Asus has been having quality issues with their products lately. Jayztwocents made a whole video about it. I’ll buy another Asus board to replace this one, but I’ll pick a different board next time and hope I have more luck. My old PC has an Asus Z370-E that is six years old and still works after heavy use. It’s just bad luck I got a bad one. I’m not risking trying to buy the same board again.

Two instances I purchased this motherboard, and both times there were errors that prevented me from using the product as intended. The first time, the RAM was a problem. I bought new RAM, and the error persisted. I gave ASUS the benefit of the doubt and figured maybe I got a dud. The second motherboard I received wouldn’t accept external graphics cards, no matter what I did. I reached out to customer support, the agent I was connected with didn’t know what to do, and supposedly my ticket was escalated to someone that knew what to do. I was told I’d receive a call and an email within 2 business days, and now almost two weeks later I’ve heard nothing. I would highly recommend looking into another brand to do business with when purchasing a motherboard.

I like everything about this board, well, except one niggle.
Overall this board offers 4 NVME drive slots, 4 SATA ports, all in a good looking package. This is a compromise board, cutting out a position between high end boards and entry level units. It offers a lot in an affordable package.
The niggle… I was an idiot and didn’t check for compatibility between this board and the Dark Rock Pro 5 cooler. I found interference on the edge side of the board and the plastic cover over the heat sinks. After some very careful inspect, I determined that the plastic over this section did nothing but look good and if anything may have hindered air flow, so I very carefully cut it off. The cooler tubes now had clearance, and all is well.
I have built hundreds of computers in over 30 years.. so I can say I know what I am doing.

I’ve always had a good experience with ASUS boards and this one is no different. It has lots of ports and a good feature set, especially comparing prices across other manufacturers for this generation. It’s a stout board with some weight to it. Only issue I had was it’s limited on air cooling due to it’s VRM heatsinks. It does work just fine a NH-D15S, just have to rotate the cooler 180 degrees from its usual mounting orientation. My system hasn’t had one hiccup with a 13700k, but I made sure to enforce the recommended limits and not let run all out. BIOS is pretty easy to use.

This motherboard made for a super easy upgrade. Hardware install was simple, with good instruction manual tips, booted without any issues on the first try. The BIOS was easy to navigate and had really solid defaults (REBAR was on by default for example), easy overclocking / XMP profiles / iGPU settings. This mobo also recognized my windows boot drive and automatically set that first in the boot order.
Upon initial boot, ASUS software automatically loaded and installed basic drivers, such as my ethernet adapter, then allowed further updates. Windows pulled in previous SSDs and kept the mapping from my previous build without trouble.
Having 4 pcie gen4 lanes with m.2 ssd adapters, all with heatsinks will allow this motherboard to be useful far into the future.
If you are looking for a painless upgrade of an older system, this motherboard has familiar base features and makes for a seamless experience.
Tip: Create a Microsoft account to bind to your windows license key to avoid having to buy another. Changing hardware invalidates the existing install’s license.

The motherboard looks and runs great and the UEFI/BIOS is user friendly. I chose Asus after the motherboard I bought from MSI arrived defective. Glad I went with this one and wish I would have gone with it first. The only gripe I have with the motherboard is that the the ASUS ARMOURY CRATE software is buggy.

I bought two of these motherboards to upgrade my work computers for Win 11. One is running Win 10 the other Win11. Both with 13700K processors and 32 gigs of DDR 5 ram. No issues with either computer. I’m running Noctua CPU coolers. Single fan units as there isn’t enough room for two fans. Stays plenty cool regardless.
