Unit easy to set-up, very small wich is great. Range is good in my north american wooden house (unit tested in basement with router on first floor), signal over 90%.
Allow use from included software or, after driver install, from windows directly (tried with XP).

This adapter is compact, has great range and has a wide range of OS compatibility. Compared to my older netgear wna adapters, this thing has twice the range and is under 1/4 of the size. I bought this for a hackintosh system, 10.8 and it installed and ran flawlessly. The only issue was that you do have to reconnect each time you reboot or re-log in. Otherwise in windows and linux, it works how it should. It is good to have an extension usb cable around to keep you from having to plug into the computer, as some machines turn into a giant antenna and it does mess with the connection. Good job asus!

Purchased this adapter to replace a broken built in wireless G adapter on an Acer Aspire 5601 with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. Only drawback is it is not plug and play. You will need to install the necessary asus software from the disk that ships with it. That being said, it has worked very well with ZERO drops and no problems connecting automatically after being set up. Very small in size. My thumb is wider than the adapter on the side of the laptop.

It works like a charm!! My old desktop computer now can download e-mail as fast (or faster) than my newer laptop!! It lives up to the fine reputation that I have come to expect from ASUS!!
My ISP gave me a small (the size of a deck of cards) wireless router which makes my whole house a “hot spot”. My laptop came with a built-in wireless card and so, it could receive the internet without any further accessories. But my old desktop, a truly, OLD “dinosaur”, just sat there! Now it smokes!!
If your computer lacks a built-in wireless card and you want to use it in a “WIFI” environment – this is the piece of gear for you.

I was building a hackintosh with my not so old ASUS desktop and wanted a USB WIFI Adapter. I have TP-Link Adapter but it won’t work with Mac OS. This one is so small… At first I thought of buying the 300MBPS Version, which is slightly bigger in size too, but later decided to buy this because my router is 150 MBPS, and I am not planning to upgrade it soon….
Regardless of the size, this thing is so so so powerful. No connectivity issues, and let me say, it picks up signal far better than TP-Link. And please note, this thing heats up quickly and pretty well… (Wasn’t exactly a problem for me). I am totally satisfied…

So, my airport card died. I needed something to replace the card (which is interal and difficult to replace)
I saw one reveiwer say he got this working with Mac OS 10.6.3.
So, I order this and put the CD in my computer. The drivers are only for Mac OS 10.5. I try to run them, the program crashes as soon as its opened. No problem I thought, I used another mac which has Leopard (Mac OS 10.5.6) and lo and behold, the program crashes again, on that computer. I tried searching for 2 days and trying different realtek drivers. None of them worked.
So, I’m not sure how the other person got this to work with his Mac, but it failed for me. However, if you use Mac OS 10.4, this will work.

My original review appears below the line. Unfortunately, I dropped the item to 1 star because it no longer works with any OS because it is dead. And conveniently, it died 11 days after the return warranty expired, so I’m out $21.73. While it didn’t get hot at first, I have noticed it getting pretty warm. I should have just returned it a couple weeks ago when it seemed to have problems staying connected. I thought it was related to something interfering with the signal. Now, it plugs in, the light blinks a few times, and that’s it. Nothing. On a Windows machine it recognized the device, then nothing beyond that. DEAD. Disappointing.
I may try contacting the manufacturer, but I’m not optimistic.

I needed an inexpensive wireless-G device for an older Dell Latitude laptop running Ubuntu 11.10. My home WAP is ASUS and some say having the same brand can improve speed so this one seemed like a good fit. It works great, although I have to unplug and re-plug it when I wake the laptop from suspend mode. That seems more likely a problem specific to the computer, not the wireless adapter. It was plug-and-play with Ubuntu 11.10.
While it is a little warm to the touch, I have not experienced any heat problems with this adapter that I have seen reported. I like the small size for use in a laptop.
(As for the ASUS-to-ASUS thing, speeds are marginally better than wireless with other brands.)

I’m gearing up to learn Linux. So I built myself a dual-boot Windows7 and Ubuntu 10.4 system. This wireless adapter works fine under Windows7 (after installing the drivers from the CD), but isn’t even seen in the Linux environment. Nor did major Ubuntu updates change that. Nor did googling or forum hopping turn up a solution.
The box and instructions CLEARLY state support for Linux. Since I will be using the computer a floor away from the nearest wired connection, this is very disappointing.
Hopefully Asus will rush to fix this glaring misrepresentation by offering drivers that will just work.
Under Windows7, the connection is strong to my wireless-G router. The only drawback is that you need the CD for W7 to recognize it. So as portable as it is, if you’re planning to carry it around you’ll have to carry the CD, too, or transfer the setup to a flash drive.
5-stars for Windows7 performance, 0-stars for Linux performance.

This is the best 150Mbps USB adaptor around. For both personal use and use at our office you can just pop-in and go. No need for driver install or setup. Its simple and works reliably, especially considering the cost.
The only time I’ve had trouble with the unit is when there is *heavy* amounts of multi-connection traffic (think hundreds of upload/download slots for torrenting). However, this is generally a problem when using a lower-end wireless router, and it still performs better than other USB wireless adapters in its same range in similar situations.
No contest IMHO.
I purchased this on a recommendation from my brother and always recommend it to everyone.
I will note that my experiences with these have been limited to office-type environments or short-distance home environments on servers/desktops. Likewise, I notice people complaining about the bandwidth.. if you need alot of bandwidth, why are you purchasing a 150Mbs rated adapter instead of something like a 300Mbps+ ?

really bad quality, I bought this for my older computer, which did not have an N connection, so I figured I’d get a speed bump with my N+ router.
it needs to be wiggled into place to get the best conduction to work, otherwise signal quality degrades to un-usable state, my analysis of the problem points to a static charge problem (when touching with bare skin, the signal jumps back to normal) or something with the surface of the USB connectors (wiggle, wiggle, wiggle!)
regardless, the only way I got this to work properly is either by constantly touching it, or by wrapping a grounded wire around the plastic surface, which helps discharge the static current, giving it its signal back.
