Just be inattentional when building. Mine is a little crooked, but I was for sure my fault.
Currently have about 42 albums stored in this crate.

They work great are easy to build and if you add some simple hardware to hold them together they stack pretty well and are fairly sturdy. I ended up drilling some holes through one of the sides and screwing them together with metal brackets. I plan on buying more and adding to the pile as the collection grows. The few cons would be a few had a less than great finish around the pre drilled screw holes but once’s it’s in use and stacked I can’t see it. The other issue is I wouldn’t trust them stacked without being screwed together.

This thing is sturdy and spacious. It’s covered by a Formica type laminate so it’s resistive to scratching. I have 58 albums and 4 laser disc movies (remember those?) stored in this thing. The laser discs are at an angle due to their width so another 10 albums should fit without the discs. It’s working well so far. I’ve had it for about 8 weeks with no issues. The only thing is, is that it is bulky and the parts are heavy, so assembly may be frustrating. I put the screws in semi loose so it could go together easier. The wood is press board so install the screws straight in the first time carefully. The pre-drilled holes seem to be prone to stripping. Then tightened them up completely after checking the alignment. It’s a deal for 20 bucks. That’s less than a plastic create which ran at about 40 bucks for a good one at the time.

These are perfect for keeping my collection in my apartment. I can stack them about two high. They each hold about 50, which is a good number and still be portable. They’re small enough and unobtrusive where you can just stack them anywhere. Incredibly easy to assemble. It will probably take you longer to find the screwdriver than to put it together. Overall, a valuable upgrade from the milk crate.

I have been a vinyl DJ for 25 years. I picked up two of these to handle crate duties in my home studio. I use these for my recent record hauls, not longterm storage (for that I use shelves). This is a sturdy record crate capable of handling a full haul of wax. The handles are useful, the crate looks good in black, and it is well-built, thanks to three screws per panel. Yes, this is particle board, yes, you have to self-assemble with a screw driver. The downsides have more to do with dust and record cover protection: with a fully open design like this, the corners and edges of the sleeves are exposed, and there is no way to lid the crate for dust protection. That said, this is currently the most affordable solution on Amazon capable of handling this many records in a sturdy package.

Love this wood crate!
Comes in the box disassembled but with a few screws, it comes together nicely. Once you put it together this is sturdy!
I have had mine completely full with about 40-50 records and I can still pick it up and move it around no problem. No creaking, no shifting, etc.
I also love how simple and affordable it is. I will be buying a second one. If you lay them on their side you can stack them which is a nice additional option I will try.
If you’re thinking about a nice basic record storage crate, that is solid and well built, look no further, this is exactly what you want.

The crate was easy to assemble. It took 10-15 minutes with no issues. I was able to get 65 albums in the crate. Seems sturdy, I was able to pick up and carry the full crate without a problem. Small amounts of the black finish were chipped away around the pre-drilled screw holes. I touched those up with some black model paint. The insides of the handle openings are unfinished and the sharp edges are kind of rough on the hands when carrying a full crate. It would be nice if they were covered with something a little more hand-friendly; the crate would look better, too. Overall, it does the job and is a good value for the money.

This record crate was easy to assemble and fits in well with the rest of my décor. Assembly was very straightforward and you can practically put it together just by eyeballing it. One of the tricky parts was making sure the screws went in the pre-drilled pilot holes in the cross-members once they came through the front/back panels rather than making new holes, as the particleboard construction is very soft. No screwdriver was included in the kit, though this is made very clear in the manual.
It looked like my unit had experienced some rough handling as there was a significant dent in the packaging and in one of the panels. Not a huge deal for me though–it is rather inconspicuous when fully assembled. I don’t know where/when this damage occurred but the packaging definitely leaves a lot to be desired, as there is some but ultimately inadequate foam padding (which leaves a mess of tiny styrofoam beads).
Overall, I can’t really complain that much for the price. It took less than 10 minutes to assemble and it does a good job of holding my records.

Once assembled, each crate was sturdy as a standalone. However, the crates were Not Securely Stackable. You would have to lay a crate awkwardly on its side on top of another crate. Totally unsecured.
