I just got this today, as I am using it to link in an array of SSD Drives that hold movies in a MKV format and pipe them into my TV’s USB Port. The TV only has 2 ports and I have a vast library of movies that I am converting to files on computer drives, currently thinking I should have opted for the larger model, (7 port). When I plug a cable into a port, I DO get a solid connection as you can tell by the friction of plugging it in, but there is a space of 2~3mm from the housing of the cable connector to the surface of the hub’s body, not a big deal… so far and hoping it stays that way. It is much smaller than I had expected and very light. The cable are heavier than the unit, so I had to wire tie the cables (Power and out put) to the power cable for the TV, so it stays stable and won’t fall to the floor.
When I am ready to expand my inputs to my TV, enough time will have passed by to have a point of reference as to the quality of this device. No problem till then, then I will by from them again, only a larger scale model. For only $10 more I could have had 3 more ports.
*Additional note: At first I thought the LED at ther ON/OFF switch wasn’t responding. I was at fault, as I didn’t hold the button long enough. I had only merely pushed it, but you really do have to give it a long push and then it responds properly. Changing my 4 stars to 5 stars.

I’ve got several USB hubs, some powered, and many are poorly made junk. This one is good. The included power supply is decent (not some Chinese “House Burner” PoS) and the hub works fine. I’m using it on my Mac Pro to take the keyboard and mouse into the USB2 front port of the Mac Pro and it works without problems. I use this method so that if I touch my mouse and discharge a static burst it won’t wipe out and damage my internal Mac Pro USB ports.

Like this unit so much that I bought a second which I’ll take along with my MacPro Book as a portable USB3 hub. The hub itself is plastic but well made. Both the USB3 hub and the power supply are fairly light so they are easy to carry with other gear in the MacBook Pro carry bag. The USB cable that connects this hub to your laptop or PC is only about 1 ft long but thick and is of high quality. It is permanently attached to the hub unit — a good thing, as it makes for a solid USB connection to the hub. It you want more distance between this USB3 hub and your PC then you’ll want to buy a good USB extension cable. I’ve use this well made USB extension (6 ft) with no problems: “OKRAY 2 Pack USB 3.0 Extension Cable 6 Ft Nylon Braided USB Cable Extender – Type A Male to Female with Gold-Plated Metal Connector”.

After buying way too many USB hubs that failed and were poorly designed, this one is a “keeper”.

Old Belkin usb hub wasn’t usb 3 and couldn’t power a web cam I had. This Attola did and more. I also have a speaker setup, mouse and keyboard dongle and in the 2.4w port, my wireless phone charger. I like that I can power down any one of them. Recommend.

I use this to connect my back up external hard drives to my PC and shut them down when not in use, but not have to pull plugs.
It is very compact and very, very light weight. It won’t sit flat on the desk as the connected cables easily lift it. I used a couple pieces of FunTak underneath to hold it down solidly to the desk – works perfectly! I now don’t have to try and find somewhere to hold the hub while inserting or pulling out cables.
While setting everything up, I inadvertently pressed one of the power buttons for more than a couple seconds while trying to hold the hub down (pre-FunTak) and plug in another USB cable. That turned off one of my hard drives while it was communicating with the PC. When I powered the hard drive up again, the drive did not show up on the PC. I powered up another drive connected through the hub and same result. I plugged the hard drives directly into the PC’s USB port used for the hub and those didn’t work either. AAAHHH! Did the hub just ruin my PC’s USB 3.0 port? I plugged in my wireless mouse USB dongle to that port and that actually worked. Hmmm – my drives must be trashed!
I did more checking and while 2 of my hard drives wouldn’t work, one that I hadn’t connected yet did when plugged directly into the PC. I was ready to return the Atolla hub as a piece of junk and thought I’d lost a couple hard drives and valuable backups because of it!
As a last resort, I restarted the PC. Lo and behold everything worked again. It turned out that a USB software issue developed as a result of the hard drive disconnect. Never seen that before.
I religiously use the “safely remove hardware and eject media” function before powering down the hard drives and, so far, I’ve had no problems since. The lesson here is – be careful with those power buttons!
My phone doesn’t register a “Fast” charge when connected to the power port, but seems to charge quickly. It does not communicate with the PC when plugged into the charging port
The blue power LED’s are small and not at all overwhelming like some other devices I have that light up the room!
My USB 3.0 data transfer rate is around 35 Mbps, which is about 10 times the speed of my USB 2.0 drives.
In conclusion, the hub does what it is intended to do, but it is too light not to have some other means to hold it down on the desk
