I was excited to get the,however, figuring out how to install and use it’s supposedly amazing software is glitchy, difficult and exceedingly difficult to manage. The customer service is slow and provides only videos and written instructions that are impossibly difficult to see. I am relatively computer and tech literate and I bought this for my new M1 MacMini, but it continues to give me fits.

el firmware y el software de esta cámara no funcionan en MacOs inferiores a 10.15. Parece que no encuentro una versión más antigua del software que funcione en 10.13 High Sierra. Cuando lo hice dio el mismo mensaje de error de “sólo 10.15” o superior.
This camera’s firmware and software will not run on MacOs lower than 10.15. I don’t seem to find an older version of the software that actually works on 10.13 High Sierra. When I did it gave the same error message that it works on “only 10.15” or higher.

 Endlich eine Kamera, die hält, was sie verspricht! Ich bin wirklich begeistert! Das Bild ist super – allerdings erst, wenn man die Einstellungen geöffnet hat und die Kamera individuell anpasst.
Das Programm zur Kamera installiert sich selbsttätig. Natürlich fragt das Programm vorher, ob es das darf. Im Video erkläre ich ein wenig die Einstellungsapp.
Mit der App ist es möglich, die Kamera zu zoomen – zwischen 100% und 400%. Ebenso ist Helligkeit, Farbsättigung und vieles mehr einstellbar.
In MS-Teams und Webex können die Einstellungen als “AverMedia Virtual Camera” ausgewählt werden. Leider konnte ich andere Konferenz-Apps nicht ausprobieren, gehe aber davon aus, dass es auch in Zoom, GoToMeeting und anderen entsprechenden Apps problemlos laufen wird.
Im Video ist zu sehen, wie die Einstellungen sich auf MS-Teams auswirken. Die “CamEngine V4”, wie sie richtig heißt, legt sich in den Try-Icon-Bereich, als in die kleine Symbolleiste der Taskleiste und läuft dann im Hintergrund, stört aber nicht mit zusätzlichen Fenstern.
In der CamEngine kann in den Einstellungen die Video-Auflösung eingestellt werden. Das hatte ich im Video nicht mehr in Erinnerung. Bei mir steht sie auf 3840×2160 – also die höchst mögliche Auflösung.
Während die Kamera im Betrieb ist, leuchtet eine kleine blaue Lampe, die zumindest mich nicht stört. Der Schutz, der sich vor der Linse legen lässt, ist leichtgängig genug.
Ich habe einen Monitor mit abgerundeten Kanten, weshalb es für mich wichtig ist, dass die Klemmleiste stark genug ist. Die Kamera ist erstaunlich schwer, aber die Klemmleiste hält die Kamera sauber am Monitorrand fest!
Bei der Auswahl Datei kann eine Datei geöffnet werden, die dann im Hintergrund sichtbar ist. Das hatte ich erst gesehen, als ich die Videoaufnahme beendet hatte…
NACHTRAG:
2x geschult mit jeweils 8 Stunden am Stück.
Die Kamera wird wirklich sehr heiß. So haben hier einige Rezensenten bereits berichtet. Tatsache ist, dass bei FHD-Auflösung auch einiges an Rechenpower verlangt wird. So meldet sich immer mal wieder (was aber auch ausgeschaltet werden kann) die CamEngine mit dem Hinweis, dass die CPU-Auslastung sehr hoch ist.
Einmal war sie so hoch, dass mir der Rechner komplett eingefroren ist und ich per Reset neu starten musste. Bei einer Schulung natürlich nicht sehr prickelnd.
Beim zweiten Mal wusste ich, was mich erwartet und ich habe die Anzahl der Apps auf das Nötigste reduziert. So ging es – die Kamera/mein PC stürzte bei der zweiten Schulung nicht ein einziges Mal ab.
Diese Kamera benötigt also einen starken Rechner! Mein PC ist jetzt ca. fünf Jahre alt und stößt damit offenbar an seine Grenzen. Dennoch will ich an der Kamera festhalten, weil mich das Bild nach wie vor begeistert!
NACHTRAG 2:
Inzwischen habe ich mir einen neuen Rechner zusammengebaut, der sehr leistungsstark ist! Es gibt weder eine Meldung wegen der CPU-Auslastung, noch ist mir mein Rechner seit dem abgestürzt. Also eine Kamera für moderne Rechner.
Und ich bin immer noch begeistert von der Kamera!

This camera is easily the best webcam class camera I have ever tried, owned, and am aware of. If you only care about good picture quality and camera controls, 5 stars you don’t need to look anywhere else. HOWEVER, there is a major caveat to be aware of: this takes up a LOT of bandwidth/power to run. I was hoping to connect it to a USB hub because my laptop doesn’t have that many ports and I ran into so many issues. Forget about your 2.0 usb hub, it won’t work at all. Some of the 3.0 usb hubs on Amazon are either lying, cannot handle enough data, or both to run this camera and any other peripherals with it. You may get away with a keyboard or mouse, but good luck trying to connect an external mic, speakers, and/or a monitor light bar to the same hub.
Just something to keep in mind.

I recently had to improve the image quality of my webcam because my Logitech C920 wasn’t cutting it anymore. So I figured I’d go with the new Logitech C922. I noticed no difference in image quality and I had trouble using it with OBS, which I have to use.
I tried the Razer Kio and Logitech Brio as well. I either wasn’t impressed with the image quality or the software was a pain to get working. Weird autofocus issues, stuttering and such.
Then I saw this camera which had great reviews, but I had never heard of Avermedia? I decided to give it a try. It doesn’t come with any software, so I was starting to think I wasted my money, but I saw I had to download CamEngine from their website. That updated the firmware. When I first set it up I couldn’t find the software used for editing zoom, focus, etc. It was in the folder labeled Step 2. After that was installed CamEngine was on and WOW! It has great zoom without degradation. Smoothing to make me look better than I do. The image quality was a major step up! It is metal and works great! I’m very pleased with my purchase!

La calidad de la imagen en 4K es excelente y abarca un buen angulo, la calidad en 1080@60 es buena, en cuanto a cámara la verdad es que todo esta muy bien con este producto, le doy solo 4 estrellas por que tiene algunos problemas un poco extraños como el hecho que se calienta bastante a pesar que ni siquiera esta en uso, solo por el hecho de estar conectada fácilmente supera supera los 50°, lo bueno es que en uso ya no se pone mas caliente asà que algún disipador mejor si podrÃan incluir en esta cámara, lo otro es que el software ya no incluye la opción de cambiar en field of view sino que solamente permite hacer zoom digital cuando en versiones anteriores si permitian.

The Avermedia web cam is the new kid on the block. I have it on a small tripod in front of my screen, which means its at eye level when I use it. I also own the Logitech Brio and the C920 so am able to make a fair comparison. It stands up well to the others with a quality of picture second to non. Also the sound is a considerable improvement on what’s gone before, although I still use an external sound card. It a massive webcam with a true glass lens (which is also huge by comparison to others). I like the fact that is comes with its own software which is always good, but there is a problem when trying to use it cross platform such as on Zoom, the zoom software is sluggish while using this avermedia, and I cannot work out how to use its own software while in zoom. If they could work out this glitch, this would be the perfect camera. It is expensive, so is it worth its cost? I think yes, I had the option of returning it if not satisfied…..I am keeping it!
