Here is my review of the ultimate edition Fallout:New Vegas pack. I purchased this game after having played through the regular New Vegas missions, and started the new content with a player that was already about level 30. It was fun to revisit the Fallout world after a year and a few months of not having played the game.

    -Honest Hearts

This one was fun. The story is good and as the player you are forced to make some moral decisions about where to go next.

1911’s and Tommy Guns! Hell yes! About time.

The maps are really well done, beautiful really.

8 out of 10 stars. It would have been 10 out of 10 but it was a bit on the easy and quick side for a high level player. Once the main campaign missions are done the map gets very peaceful and quiet, which makes going back there for any reason kind of pointless.

The ending prize contains what is probably the best pistol in the game.

    -Old World Blues

I was mixed about this one. Some of the quests were fun and compelling, others were not. I did like the plethora of new equipment, and the back story was a good one. Despite being a high level character I got the beatdown quite a few times, so tactics were important.

    7 out of 10 stars.

    -Lonesome Road

This brings some new elements to the story, and you finally get to meet the ‘other’ courier that is alluded to in the main New Vegas campaign. The end battle is epic, in fact I never legitimately beat it – a bug of some sort launched the main bad guy up in to the air right when the fighting started on my 8th or 9th attempt to kill him, and he ‘kersplatted’ when he hit the ground. Fine by me.

Some decent loot in this mission, hours of difficult gameplay, and lots of shooting.

    -Dead Money

I played this DLC mission last, which is good, because I absolutely hated it and if I would have played it first it is likely I would have skipped the others.

It’s simply just not fun, or compelling, or interesting enough to make the running around in the dark recesses of the town outside the casino, or inside the casino itself, worth it. The most prominant bad guys will literally absorb 20 or so shots before they die, which gets old. I basically had to resort to stirring one or two up and then running away while shooting at them. Boring and tedious.

The final ‘boss fight’ is a big letdown too. Veteran Fallout 3/NV players will key in to the fact that there are automated turrets to do their bidding, so it’s a matter of just switching them on and watching the antagonist die. But, that’s not all…then there is a final frustrating run for life from the recesses of the casino. It took me several tries to get it right and at the end I was literally swearing at the screen because I just wanted this awful mission to be over.

4 out of 10 stars. Not even a pile of money made it worth the hours of frustration and boredom. The weapons you take away are weak, the loot is only okay, very skippable.

Gun Runners’ Arsenal and Courier’s Stash

New weapons, mods, armor, locations, etc. Cool stuff most of it, some of it is just a retread of what was already in the game.

Overall the ultimate edition DLC stuff is worth it. Yes, some bugginess remains but it only comes up infrequently. Bringing new life in to a game I haven’t played in a long while makes the purchase a good one in my eyes.

By far the best console game in the Fallout series. The story, setting, characters, and consequences of the player’s actions, made for great immersion. The DLCs included in this edition truly made this game “ultimate.” To experience FNV fully, play the game on Disc 2.

There is a high degree of replay-ability and quality writing that modern games lack. Each play-through is unique, and I always find myself discovering new things each time I start a new game. Obsidian Entertainment masterfully embedded details that paid homage to the previous Fallout games and made a new difficulty (hardcore mode), maybe the first Fallout to do so.

There are times where loading screens or intense gameplay sequences can result in the game crashing, but the quick time to load the game and ability to skip after the “Bethesda” slide makes that negligible (with auto-save). Even when it crashes on console, the save files remain playable and are not corrupted/lost. There are bugs that are present and more info can be found on Fallout Fandom. However, these bugs are easily resolved or can be avoided entirely.

one of the best games I’ve ever played with so much replayable value. different story options every playtrhough, different character builds and loadouts every playtrough.
i had gotten FNV back in the day im pretty sure as part of the XBOX gold pass (or whatever it was called) from back in the day near the end of the 360 console cycle. recently went to replay and saw all the DLC available. unfortuante but not understandable that there are no longer any kind of xbox 360 DLC bundles for FNV. i saw this and was juiced! instead of having the hassle of buying each DLC a-la-carte on the 360 market place i got this which gave me
    1) a physical copy of the game
    2) options to play on the 360 and XBOX ONE for the price of one
    3) came with all the DLC for FNV, including the weapon DLC
    4) all this cost me $5 less then a-la-carte purchases off 360 store
if you want a game you can play over and over again pick this classic up.

Watched the TV show and got hooked and needed to do a new vegas play through. It is the complete new vegas experience. Has everything you could ask for even those darn cazadors… base game is great and the dlc’s are present. The dlc however dosent really hold up as well as it did back then. Then again thinking about it with nostalgia does put cracks in everything. Happy with the purchase, but it was rather pricey for a 10+ year old game.

This game was awesome. The amount of detail that went into this game is amazing. There is so much you can do and so much to explore. Plus, every time you start a new game you follow a different path and have a completely different experience. This is the type of game where you can easily have over 100 hours of playtime. Having all the dlc included is also a great perk and adds hours of gameplay and new experiences. If you liked Fallout 3 or Fallout 4 then you will love this game. If you didn’t like either of those then I would expect that you wouldn’t like this one then either.

My only complaint about this game is that it can be a little glitchy. Sometimes it will bug out and missions won’t sequence properly or start the way they are supposed to. I had a mission that would not start and I was doing everything I was supposed to do. My only recommendation is to have multiple save files and save often so if you encounter a bug you can load a previous save and not lose too much progress. Overall though, this game is a must play in my book if you like first person shooters with rpg elements. At the time I bought it for $19.99 and for that price it was worth every penny.

A true classic pity there’s no mod support on console the best 3d fallout game do not miss it (beware the ps3 version not only does it not run on ps5 it also was badly optimized compared with other versions).
