I love the game, but it was a version for a non-English speaking country. Also, the code they promise it will come with expired a long time ago.

Being a huge fan of Dishonored series, I had high hopes for Prey. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly died from the extreme difficulty and tedious backtracking which made this game impossible for me to enjoy. The levels are artfully crafted, but the lack of resources makes every enemy encounter an exercise in frustration. Even at the lowest difficulty, this game doesn’t give you a fair chance. Cannot recommend unless you enjoy scrounging for ammo and supplies almost all the time.

Hey, do you like System Shock 2, Bioshock, Deus Ex or Dishonored? Never heard of those games and still reading this review? Hurray! You should play those games too, but in case you haven’t, here we go!
Prey 2017 is an immersive sim like the games I’ve mentioned above, play how you want and make the choices you want. These aren’t just binary menu choices like “Save or Kill” or “Press X to Salute” after shooting guys in a corridor for a few hours, it’s a lot more engaging than that. You want to freeze someone in plaster, turn into a coffee cup, launch yourself at their head? You want re-animate a corpse and have it fight for you? Maybe recycle your enemies into their base materials, then use those materials and craft a lure to recycle their friends?
There’s actually a great story here too if you’re interested, there’s a ton to explore and good amount of side content to engage in if you so choose. Character upgrades are all about choice as well: upgrade towards stealth and sprint down hallways without a sound, build up your strong hand and hit things really hard with a wrench, or light things on fire with your mind.
With that choice and exploration comes a slowdown of pacing from time to time (to explore, solve puzzles, etc.), if that bothers you, this may not be the genre for you. Otherwise, check it out.

Greg Killmaster –
I’ve played games ever since my teens (and I’m 68 years old) and this is one of the most engaging and atmospheric games I’ve ever played. If not the best immersive experience I’ve ever had. I want to read everything and find out everything. Nothing seems superfluous. I almost stopped playing it about 25% in but if you stick with it, you will really appreciate how well made and utter fun it is. The only other game I enjoyed this much was Bloodborne (though totally different game). The sound is a marvel of design. Not only does it integrate perfectly with the game’s pacing, it also has some of the most inventive sound design of creatures and little sounds that fill the sound space with a thick atmosphere to help create this unique world. The design and variety of the different behaviors of the Typhon creatures is really phenomenal. What a great job differentiating them so you have to learn them as you go. I really am surprised there isn’t more talk about this game. I keep imagining it will go down in gaming history as an extraordinary acheivement.

Being able to float through space is visually stunning. The space station graphics and detail are very good. However very little action. An enemy alien here an enemy alien there. Having to find hidden things is very aggravating and easily missed. No real direction or storyline. Constantly easter egg hunting and backtracking is very annoying. Weapons are few ,ammo is limited and enemies are very difficult to beat. It seems like most of the devs attention was put mostly into the environment and then ran out of ideas. Space simulator at best. Not a run and gun action shooter by any stretch. Worth a try on sale for 10$ at best.

The photo on Amazon depicts the game in American English, I received the game in Dutch. I have no clue where on the globe that language would be? But it’s not in America.

I did not really know what to expect when i purchased this game. It was cheap and the trailer looked interesting. Got me hooked within 5 minutes of gameplay. Your character is stuck on a seemingly deserted spacestation. However you soon realise your not alone. There are some mysterious characters that contact you occasionally to move the story on and its difficult to know who to trust. Its apparent that the dicisions you make change the story line. The RPG elements of the game are also very good, with lots of different upgrades to choose depending on your style of play. For example if you need to get into a security booth there are mutiple ways to achieve this. Simply hack the terminal, find a nearby maintenence hatch or my personal favorite, use your abilities to morph into a small object and hop through the small window. If your looking for an all action FPS then this is not for you. If your looking for an atmospheric, story driven sci fi adventure then this could be the game for you.
