It was delivered on time in good condition.. it was not exactly what I had expected, as it was missing the manual and not new as the price point suggested.. I will do better to read everything in the future. I did not return the item as the game for the most part was there and working..
the game was great fun.. it was well packed and protected for transit..
It did include instructions to contact seller if I had any issues.. the issue was not worth the time to return but enough to take extra time to ensure I read everything and make more informed decisions..

We check in with Bethesda every once in a while looking for more Fallout games to be released and stumbled across this one on the website. We immediately preordered it (love that Amazon preorder price guarantee) and waited impatiently for it to arrive. My husband was so excited to get it and then was sad because of the HUGE amount of space it takes up (7G now you are forewarned to probably the only downside). Luckily he has storage devices to put this on so after waiting the 2 hours for it to load we got our first look at it. I enjoy thrillers and he enjoys gore and this delivers. Within 1 minute of play we encountered someone sawing bodies and then some wacko with a chainsaw… it only gets better from there. The game is creepy, gory and gross – Its great, probably not one for the kiddos! All about survival and being terrified out of your mind at the horrendous things people (and game creators) can come up with to do to one another.
It takes some getting used to and the graphics are nothing like our beloved Fallout games but they are still great. This is a dark game, I mean that in there is no bright sunlight or hopeful lights, this is a night time and dimly lit hallways kind of game. This game is challenging as well, we played for 2 hours and I don’t feel that we have even scratched the surface. Looking forward to being able to enjoy this game for a couple of months of casual play! Certainly not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach but if you like the bloody gory side of Hollywood then you will LOVE The Evil Within!

This game exceeded my expectations in terms of creativity and overall creepiness. I don’t intend to buy an Xbox One anytime soon, and found the graphics on the 360 vision to be surprisingly good.
As other reviewers have stated, it’s easier to make “gore porn” horror titles than it is to create a sustained atmosphere of tension and psychological horror. This game does have the predictably low character development of most titles in the genre, but I found the narrative and visuals to be highly engaging. Although I generally don’t take well to linear game formats, I also think the developers did a great job with maintaining curiosity and engagement throughout the chapters. There are elements of other survival/horror titles implemented in this game, to be sure, but there are enough quality scares to keep things interesting.
If you’re waiting a while (at least until the next Silent Hill release) before considering a new console like I am, this is a worthy addition to any survival horror collection.
I normally don’t re-play games like this, but am just beginning my second play through so I can take in more of what I missed visually and atmospherically my first time around (especially since it took me about halfway through my initial play to really have the time to immerse myself in the story).

I love this game! It scares the hell out of me. It reminds me of the residency evil games if you’ve ever played them. It has that feel to it. Stuff looks good, s*** spooks you. So fun! I love it. Its not what I thought tho. I thought it was gonna b a zombie on steroids kinda game. & it is, But it has a dude who reminds me of a ghost version of the assassin’s creed dude in it. & hes like magic or something. It has a hint of that. Makes it cool bc now its supernatural & now anything can happen. I’m on chapter 5. And its so fun. Gotta be on your A game. Have fun!!

An atmospheric, pulpy love-letter to the genre he helped establish, Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within pays its homages in full, even if it struggles at times to get its own story straight.
Detective Sebastian Castellanos and company are thrust into an unfolding and utterly disorienting nightmare after getting called in to investigate a mysterious incident at a local asylum. Soon enough, the white-washed walls of the nuthouse are repainted red with blood, a hoodie-wearing albino specter is killing everyone in droves, and Sebastian is getting chased around by deranged denizens of an eerily familiar remote countryside village. We’ve been here before, but, then again, that’s the point: the Evil Within isn’t trying to break new ground so much as it tries to renovate the old mansion. Combat is challenging, enemies are fast, puzzles and traps are abundant, and boss encounters ooze dread in a way that more than makes up for latter Resident Evil entries’ failings: this is root-level survival horror evolved.
While the Evil Within’s grainy, grind-house visual palette and terrifically detailed environments are immersive and appropriately unsettling, its abrupt and often confounding story-line gets muddled quite early on. Even after the predictable twist is finally spelled-out in full, the game doesn’t quite manage to pull the pieces together as well as it should. Characters, unsurprisingly, aren’t particularly interesting or well-defined outside collectable journal entries, and our villain’s motivations are ultimately a letdown.
That said, the game manages to push past its flaws in interesting ways, like engrossing mid-level location transitions and terrifying enemy design work. While adversaries all feature fantastic animations, it is a bit off-putting getting around as Sebastian early on in the game: between his flailing melee attacks and noodle-armed limping, Sebastian provides just as many laughs as his ghoulish pursuers elicit scares. Equally hilarious is the atrocious dialogue on display: when a vicious, half-naked, spider-legged woman bursts out of a pool of blood on the ground a few hours into the game, Sebastian asks “What’s with you lady?” completely unfazed. The voice-acting ranges between lazy (Anson Mount’s Sebastian), sleepy (movie star Barry Pepper as Ruvik), and underutilized (Dexter-alum Jennifer Carpenter as Sebastian’s new partner, Juli). Luckily, the sound-design more than makes up for the misfires in the casting department, offering a rich audio backdrop to the unfurling terrors at hand.
Along with a now perfunctory New Game+ mode, three enormously fun and equally atmospheric DLC expansions do a nice job building on the lackluster lore the main game’s plot initially scuttled. “The Assignment”, in particular, caters to the game’s strengths, and does a great job dropping the spotlight on Sebastian’s female partner, Juli. The main game itself spans a good 14 chapters, each an hour or less in length: the levels themselves are well varied and rarely redundant. Resident Evil and Silent Hill fans will find a lot to love here.
