I had bought this months ago, but I had waited to see the results of my effort before reporting on it. This was for my 2002 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T I had bought a couple of years back used, that has been plagued of sputtering, and losing power when going up hills for the longest of time. Over the year, I have replaced a few parts in the fuel system in my attempt in trying to regain to fluidity in the flow of acceleration. The fuel filter, cleaning the fuel injectors, cleaning the fuel tank with cleanser itself — all improved the situation, but did not prevent the periodic “strain epilepsy” effect the engine was reporting while driven in certain spots. It wasn’t until began to researching this situation across the VW forums to find others who experienced the same issue and they documented their steps to resolve it. This part, FPR, was listed an culprit a few blogger’s comments. That when I went out to buy this part. Found Amazon had one of the lowest prices for this auto part. (Actually, AMZ been listing variety of parts under than some of the parts warehouses prices. This is not my first auto part bought from AMZ that was well received.) Well the part arrived very fast after ordering. I had found online how to change it. Very simple. Decided to replace it on my own. Took me less than hour. Upon discovery when I remove the old part, there was grime and particles in the fuel rail, which I proceeded to clean up prior to placing the the new FPR in there. Also, it appeared that the old FPR O-ring was about to disintegrate anyway. After cleanup, install new FPR. Later started the car up and took it for a test. You could feel the car aggressively pull that hill with life restoring enthusiasm as to say to me, “What took you so long”. Haven’t had a problem with it since.

Good quality, installed in 10 minutes on 1999 Jetta MK4 2.0 Automatic. Only issue I had was: the green O ring is hard to fit, you will need some lube on it or use the old one. Other than that works the way it supposed to.

⁃ I purchased this for a 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 GL AEG 5 speed transmission. I was changing the fuel pump and decided to change most/all fuel system related components, fuel injectors and ‘rotten’ worn out engine fuel hoses and the fuel filter. I have also done a review of the Mann WK731 Fuel Filter which I also bought on Amazon.
⁃ This part is a direct fit on my 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 AEG. It replaces the original fuel pressure regulator, which is (was) also a Bosch.
⁃ If you are doing the work yourself, consult the Haynes or other manual to show or instruct you on how to go about changing it. On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is changing a fuse and 10 is changing an engine, this replacement is a 2 at the very most.
⁃ To replace the fuel pressure regulator, remove the engine cover, relieve the fuel pressure and disconnect all attached hoses. Pull out the pin that holds the fuel pressure regulator in place with a regular flat screwdriver. Once the pin is pulled out, pull out the regulator with the same screwdriver, easing it out of its black plastic fuel rail holder. Make sure you have the regulator and both the small and big o rings out of the holder.
⁃ On the new regulator, as per the manual, apply a thin film of engine oil (I used Castro 5W 30 but you can use any engine oil) on both the small and large o rings and then push the regulator into its holder. When it is in there, it will ‘snap’ and feel in place. Push the pin back, put back the connecting hoses just as you had removed then and once done with all your other installations, start the car and enjoy. Good luck if you are doing the job yourself. I have attached a few pictures showing that it is similar and a direct fit to the previous original part, where the fuel regulator is in the car and how to instal it. I was working on other parts of the car and the pictures might show a part called the intake plenum manifold removed. You don’t have to do this (remove the intake plenum) for this replacement. Hope it helps.
