The keyboard is worth the price. The most thing I like, it has MIDI interface. This way you I can record, edit my tones, music on laptop and mixer. You only need to have or buy a MIDI-USB cable at your local store. Around $8. But you don’t need all these if you only just want to the play the keyboard. The sound is very good, though Yamaha is much better in terms of sound. You get what you pay for.

First off, thank you to all the wonderful people who reviewed this keyboard before me. It gave me the extra confidence that I was making the right decision to purchase it. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Casio keyboard. It’s exactly what I wanted. I am a beginner but I don’t see ever outgrowing it. Initially, I was overwhelmed as I read the booklet that came with it. If that is you, do what I did, PUT THE MANUAL DOWN AND JUST PLAY! The sounds are fabulous and I’m enjoying trying them as I go along and see which ones are my favorites. I know the keyboard is capable of some serious things (i.e. Midi, split sounds, etc.) but for now, I will just enjoy playing music. My purchase came with 6 weeks of Simply Piano online lessons and those have been terrific – really helping me so definitely take advantage of that resource. Hope this review helps others come to the same decision to purchase it and enrich their lives.

I bought my son a Casio keyboard more than 20 years ago for Christmas and was amazed at the fun sound effects alone, and the piano was a decent sound too. He still has it and it works to this day… I always wanted one like it but could talk him out of his, so I decided to shop for a electric piano, I had a couple narrowed down between a $600 Casio or $600 Yamaha… both had great reviews and claims to great sound and ease of use. but I was on a budget and wanted something quick so I bought the ctx700 and figured I would practice and learn this keyboard before spending a few more bucks for a better one. well I am glad I bought the ctx700 first for $180. The sound is incredible! and the price? I would have paid double or more for this keyboard… I think I paid the same $180 bucks 20 years agofor the one I got then and like I said it still is up and running. ok, I have meat hooks for hands but have plaid many instruments before including the piano when I was a kid. I have to get used to the keys but they work decent, I find the more money you spend the better the keys are, other wise they all do about the same sounds and effects. the more buttons the easier, because with less buttons you have to press a button more than once to make your choice…the ctx700 is fairly simple to learn but with some challenges. I look forward to practice and spending time learning the ctx700, my favorite rhythm drum set is the Indian fx. the sounds of the drums and voices are so fun to use , I was a pro in ten minutes playing along with a BALI wood movie, so much fun… I say after reading and comparing for a year and finally could fork over the money to get the ctx700 for a price next to nothing … I say BUY IT!!!

I spent some time researching beginner keyboards. Space is limited, and I wanted a keyboard from a reputable brand. Not a professional musician –just a hobbyist whose played piano and arranger keyboards, so I have an idea of what I really need. I’m not expecting it to sound like a piano because it’s not. Sound quality in is good but this is not a pro instrument. It’s not a toy either. I think most people to test the waters, or have fun. Budding keyboardists will discover lessons and scales, along with song bank. I warn you: most of the songs are old-,fashioned. Sure, you’ll find Beethoven, Mary had a little lamb and Jingle Bells, but American Patrol. There’s a lot of Stephen Foster. It does not have Bluetooth, but you can still use headphones with a 3.5 mm jack You need to purchase a special adapter.
Overall, I think this was a good price. Keep in mind that just 2 years ago, this model was priced at $175, but the prices of most consumer goods have gone up. (Not saying this is a steal, but a good value.)

DELIVERY: This item arrived quickly, and in in good condition. However, Amazon did not wrap the package, and anyone could have picked it up from my door. Fortunately, we were home.

I wanted a digital piano that I could easily transport. This Casio fit the bill since it weighs in at around 10 pounds and transports nicely if you buy a case that straps to your back. My piano teacher suggested I spend around $500 to $800. Since I was not sure how often I was going to be using it, I opted for this less expensive Casio model. I was pleasantly surprised. The key action is quite good and the number of sounds and special effects and features is impressive. The sound is not as vibrant as my other more expensive digital piano. I did find the 61 keys took a bit of getting used to in that I needed, not having 88 keys, to revise my left hand fingering when I ran out of keys on the lower end. After checking it out I took it over to my piano teacher who was pleased with the purchase and was surprised by the quality for the price. I think this is a great product for either beginner students or someone needing a more portable 2nd digital piano.

The Casio CTX-700 is a great choice for beginners. It is loaded with features and can be purchased at a reasonable price. My favourite song to learn on this piano has been been Movement I of Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven. This piano comes with Pros as well as Cons :-

    Pros:
    • The piano is high quality and sturdy
    • The keys have a glossy finish
    • A whopping 600 different tones (not that anyone needs those many)
    • Plenty of songs along with their notes so that you can play along
    • Many useful functions like transposition, touch, reverb, chorus and equalizer
    • The keyboard backlight brightness can be adjusted; however, the white backlight color can’t be changed
    • Speakers are big and volume can be transitioned very smoothly from 0% to 100%
    • Transposition can be done to access all 88 notes
    • User manual isn’t really required as all the buttons are straightforward and well labelled

    Cons:
    • There were several holes in the box in which the keyboard arrived; however, the keyboard itself wasn’t damaged in any way
    • The speakers are covered with thin fabric
    • All the default songs are pretty old and there are no recent pieces
    • Not recommended for advanced players as playing some songs (especially pieces by Chopin and Liszt) is simply impossible as 61 keys shall not be enough
    • Some of the default songs have been transposed in the wrong scale and chords/octaves have been simplified to single notes (I think this was done to make the piece easier to play but it doesn’t sound good

While these cons do exist, the pros outnumber them and the only thing you need to be careful about is not bringing sharp objects near the speakers. So, go for it, it’s well worth the price.

If you need an extra keyboard for just about anything, then this is the way to go. It has a 1/4 jack, so it can be plugged into a recording interface or an amp, and it’s incredibly light. If you want something that replaces a real piano, then this isn’t what you want; the keys aren’t weighted, and it’s not a full-sized 88-key keyboard. In the video I attached, I play the same thing three times; the first time is with one of the piano sounds, the second time is with one of the electric piano sounds, and the third time is with an electric piano sound and a synth bass sound at the same time. The keyboard obviously can be split to have two different sounds, and the primary sound can have a second sound “layered” on top of it. It comes with an extensive amount of features (transposition, saved combinations of sounds (or “presets”), different levels of reverb, etc.) , but reading the manual is a MUST if you want to utilize the keyboard to its fullest potential. There is a bit of a learning curve when you try to figure out how to use the features, but it’s well worth your time.
