Every year since 2010, my best friend and I take our families to the Oregon Coast to go crab fishing for Spring Break. When it came time to make breakfast, we would try to cook for an army (5-10 children and 4-7 adults) using an electric Griddle, a Hot Plate and a 2 burner camp stove. The Griddle and Hot plates would keep tripping the breaker in the Yurt and the camp stove was pretty small.
As a result, we’d start cooking breakfast at about 8 am on the first day of our spring break trip and would be able to serve breakfast sometime around Christmas. Every year, we’d stand there in the cold, exhausting our ever expanding repertoire of curses (and expanding it further with new curses) and tell each other “By God, next year we’re bringing a Gas Griddle!”
And for 13 years, we’d come back the next year with a hot plate, a camp stove and an electric griddle. Well, last year, I finally said, “ENOUGH! I want breakfast today and not wait until the kids are opening presents from Santa Clause, dammit!”
So after much research and shopping, I found this Char-Broil gas griddle. I have a nice Char-Broil grill in my front yard and use it almost every day in the summer time, so I felt pretty comfortable pulling the trigger on this griddle.
So while there was still several inches of Ice in the roads and the trees were falling over from Icemageddon 2024, I ordered this griddle while dreaming of warmer weather and rain that would freeze as soon as it hit the ground.
It arrived while the ice was just starting to clear from the roads and sat in my living room, calling out to me, begging to be used…but I waited. When the day came where we arrived at my best friend’s site, I began setting it up so that I could begin curing the surface.
The next morning was cold and rainy, wind out of the NW at about 15 and basically a miserable morning. But we waited and soon, the weather cleared enough and we could make breakfast. The surface heated up quickly and we were able to start cooking within a few minutes. After about 45 minutes, everyone was fed and we were cleaning the griddle and pondering what next we could cook on it.
For the next 4 days, we looked for reasons to use this lovely piece of equipment to cook savory meals and enjoy the pleasure of cooking for a small army of ravenous teenagers and their weary parents.
In summary, I highly recommend this griddle and I wish I had bought one years ago. The surface is large enough to cook a large meal for several people.
Now, I need to go and find something else to cook.
~Cheers

I’ve been looking at getting a griddle like this for quite some time. Of course, I’ve been looking at the competitor quite extensively, but have always been a Charbroil fan. I was excited to see when they came out with these a few years ago – since then, they have improved their design quite a bit. I’ve cooked two meals on the griddle now and really like the predictable heat, the griddle surface seasoned easily, and the details of this unit are almost perfect. The grease tray features a liner to help direct the grease into the tray which can be washed along with the tray itself. That makes keeping a fully clean griddle possible. The rubberized feet and the ability to change the tilt on the griddle surface are nice touches, too. The only knock I’d give this grill is that the grease hold on the griddle surface is smaller than I’d like. It easily takes grease, water and other liquids, but some solids remain on the griddle surface. It’s no big deal because it’s well away from the area you are using to cook AND a quick paper towel wipe remove any trash that does worry you.

Got this for a week long camping trip. Made food for 12-15 people a day mostly breakfast. Went through a 1lb propane tank a day. The only cons is not very travel friendly. I kept the box and plastic to repack for travel and no cover. But after seasoning it with just vegetable oil it works great
