So I took off emblems on my mercedes and someone used a scub pad *cringe* to “clean” the residue. I was think just new paint job ASAP. But then came across this amazing product. V36. just look at the pictures. It’s not rocket science to use a drill with a soft buff pad. The instructions are easy. And with the result you get the excitement. You feel like a pro and the shine is solid. 10 stars if I could.

The V36 is listed as a cutting polish, with polish being the operative word here. so be aware it’s not a cutting compound and wont remove “moderate to heavy paint defects and imperfections” as listed in the description.

On its own the V36 does a great job of polishing. When combined with the V38 they produce a mirror shine, even on my old work van that hasn’t had anything beyond a handwash in the last 9 years. It also works great at restoring plastic trim.

I purchased a Chemical Guys 10 FX orbital random polisher. My 2007 Tundra roof and hood were very oxidized and the rest of the paint was showing its age. I used up the 4 Oz bottles quickly, and purchased these larger bottles. The end result was excellent, and all of the oxidation and minor scratches disappeared. My trucks paint looks less than 5 years old!

With my confidence up, I then polished my 2013 911S. The result is nothing short of amazing. The paint is black and it now has a mirror finish. I used the CGs butter wax, and the car looks new… maybe better than new.

Also, watch the online videos before starting!

So honest review… 36 works pretty great.. I found a good amount of the time I don’t even need 38 because 36 brings out a pretty great shine and leaves no haze our cloudiness. I did find that anything more then mild snow brush scratches I still had to cut them with a courser compound or even 2000 grit sand scratches I had better results with a courser compound first then finish with 36 and wax. The one thing I do really enjoy is they smell pretty great when you get working the product. Next round I’ll be buying the 36 only and in a bigger bottle.

I’m not a person who typically writes reviews, but after the results I’ve had by using this stuff, I felt almost obligated to.
I recently purchased this 18 year old truck. It had 18 years worth of oxidation on the back half of it. The front portion had been repainted and the previous owner opted not to have it completely repainted. Not really knowing what I should do I did a little bit of reading, read some reviews, and watched a few tutorials and ended up choosing the Chemical Guys 36 and 38 kit. I started to do this by hand, which quickly changed into using a random orbital with a few different pads. I applied the 36 to cut down the oxidation, then followed up with the 38 to make it shine. I then followed up with some carnauba based wax to seal it up. Needless to say I’m very pleased with the results as you can tell in the photos. Yes, that is the exact same truck!

The V36 cuts paint very well. Then you move on to the V38. It looks really good until you try to buff it off. Leaves a greasy film that’s impossible to get off. I followed directions and watched the video. After several buffing passes with different micro fiber pads, I ended up stripping it off.

First 2 photos are before and the last 3 are after. I used V36 with a compound hex pad followed by V38 with the same pad on a DA polisher. The results are amazing. This was done in my driveway in winter at minus 4 Celsius. Because Canadian, ya know. Cut through almost all scratches and eliminated the spider webbing/ swirls. Highly recommended. Car is a 2015 Chevy Cruze Diesel.

This was followed by Chemical Guys jet seal (MUST HAVE) and Chemical Guys Bitter wet wax. Both amazing products.

I bought a used 2015 VW Golf Tdi Sport Wagon in red and who ever owned it before did not do a very good job of taking care of the paint, it was in need of some love. I had a couple Meguiars products that I had used in the past but this time I was not getting what I wanted out of them. I am using a Cyclo dual pad polisher.
I bought the V36 and V38 and this stuff worked great. I was able to get rid of all the little scratches that look like they come from the driving through car washes and few larger scratches from something being dragged over the hood. I have people stop me and say what a nice looks car and how they love the color.
I will defiantly continue to use Chemical Guys products. They are not the cheapest out there but then cheap is not always the best way to go when it come to something you care about.
