Nicole Edington –
We got this for a graphic novel fan. 8 year old loved creating her own stories. Plenty of room to draw and write. Use colored pencils not markers as they bleed.
Kaitlyn –
I ordered this as an option for a ‘Comic Camp’ textbook/workbook I’ll be teaching this summer.. the organization I teach for ended up ordering a copy for each student and we will do the same next year! It’s the perfect Graphic Novel 101 book. I’d say ideal for ages 8-12 (or age 34 because it was also perfect for me).. lots of blank pages/panels of varying formats in the back of the book! Lots!!!
Jessica Grace –
My kiddo is obsessed with graphic novels and has used this book daily since getting it on Christmas. She is now drawing things independently in the comic style and loves referencing this book.
John and Trena Driessen –
My 8 year old loved this.
Janie –
creates imaginations and no electronics

Perfect for my son who loves to read and write stories. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with!
Goddess of Chaos –
This book has a variety of panel layouts, gives a guide on how to lay out your panels — showing how panels are read, which direction, which one first, giving a lot of interesting guidelines/suggestions/thoughts on what artists are doing as they are laying out a Comic Book or Graphic novel.
This isn’t about how to draw a person… but how to use this medium with the person you are drawing… how to do speech bubbles, how to think through the panels… a lot of stuff that kids who love reading comics and enjoying drawing could learn a lot from.
I do wish it was easier to remove the pages and “shuffle the order” of the layouts once a story was in mind… but… that might be asking for a lot from a bound book.
When I showed this to the Comic Book Reader in the family (and long time collector) he mentioned that some of the panel layouts were not ones he saw very often and were not ones he would suggest for a first time artist, some were challenging to fit in, some were challenging to clearly show the reader how to move between. I was intrigued by that feedback, but as the non-Comic Reader, trying to encourage a child’s interest… I wasn’t sure what to do with the information.
Cali Muchacha –
This book will definitely help the first-time writer or illustrator. Useful tips on how to create a graphic book or comic. The author/illustrator has a great sense of humor when he presents his suggestions. Nice layout templates.
Liz MacDonnell –
Although the preview pictures are good in kindle. Once I got the book, I was very disappointed there was no real example contents or directions. I expected more for the price. If I wanted comic panels I’d make or download them not buy a book with more of those than content.
