Crosman Shockwave .22 break barrel with the thick/suppressor barrel
Has the features I was looking for, and at the top of the price point I was willing to pay – $150, not $200-$350
Pros
-Open sights AND able to mount a scope, something I think all pellet rifles should include, bc if your scope breaks then what? No sights! See lots of rifles with scope only
-Uses a nitrogen piston instead of spring so it’s quieter & more accurate – they claim, and it is pretty quiet and accurate IMO
– Shoots straight through tin cans of corn/potatoes! Or 2 foam archery targets back to back, and then sticks in the fence 5 yards behind the targets! The thing is powerful!
– I’m assuming the wider barrel also supports some noise reduction, as I haven’t read it anywhere – But either way, I really like it because smacking the barrel to open & charge the rifle doesn’t hurt your hand over time like common skinny barrels do, since it’s spread over a larger area. It’s probably heavier, but worth the trade off I think.
Cons
– I would really have preferred the open sights to be metal, they’re plastic. The front should be ok, and it doesn’t appear to come off. The rear is removable, and it’s the one I’d worry about breaking if it got hit from the side hard enough. Maybe I could find a metal replacement, but it seems sturdy enough for now
– It would’ve been a nice touch to include sling points, although it would up the price, and I can probly rig something up so not a big deal
– It’s pretty hefty at like 7 or eight pounds? Also not a big deal tho, I got it for back yard plinking and pest control, not for taking hiking. But it’s heavier than my step brother’s youth single shot 20 gauge.
-Will either try to make a case for it out of the box it came in by adding foam/duct tape, or break & buy a case
Sighted in the “iron” sights first, then put the scope on & got it sighted in at about 15 yards as well – Making nice small groups now!
Over all, very happy with this rifle, will hopefully get the opportunity to take out some fat rats with it!

The gun itself, is AMAZING!! I love it, and it is VERY accurate. But, I also got a bore laser sight, which I used to sight in all my guns. Got to this one, and the scope just wouldn’t zero. SO, I used an old military trick, a mirror, to see where the sights were, and adjust them. The left, and right, worked. Up and down? Not so much. SO, I couldn’t get it sighted in. After reaching out to support, I was told to contact the seller. But the SELLER is AMAZON!!!! I left that chat, annoyed, and a bit upset. But decided to try again. THIS time, I met someone who was very VERY good, and they helped me with a replacement. Now, I’m waiting for the new scope I got ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007UT3OFC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) which I already have on another gun. ITS AWESOME!!!And I’ll be back to destroying cans in my backyard, and being the invisible scourge of pests by this Saturday. I cannot complain! It does have a bit of a kick btw. So be prepared! And your arm will hurt the first day from breaking the barrel over and over, because it’s so much fun to shoot! after the second day Tho, I was good. Get ammo, I’d suggest no less than 500, preferably these guys…( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006O74XQ0?th=1 ), they are very good. Accurate, And hit hard. And you’ll have so much fun shooting that you’ll just run through the ammo. lol…I know I did… Happy shooting!

This rifle stopped working after couple of weeks which I may have put 50 pellets. It has only been couple of weeks so not many pellets.
At first, the breaking/cocking barrel was really hard. I was impressed with this going through a 3/4 interior plywood. I had a tool case behind it to stand the plywood up and the pellet was embedded into the hand of the case. It was night so hallway, may be 20-25 feet, was used to practice and test. I replaced the plywood with a 1/4 Aluminum plate. The pellets would disintegrate now on the Al plate. Scope was sufficient and was able to zero without too much issue.
The problem happen after a little bit of firing in the backyard because, the pellet (Crosman brand lead pellets) would not leave the barrel. I did multiple shots to try to dislodge the pellet but could not get enough pressure to shoot the pellet out. After a while I brought the rifle back inside As mentioned earlier, the cocking became so easy so not much pressure or something. I finally managed to get some pressure and shoot but it was really light. The pellets against the Al plate barely deformed where in the beginning pellets were not recognizable. I have the Benjamin Nitro 22 pellet gun which looks the same with break barrel, this took effort to cock. With this, the pellets would disintegrate. I will take a photo of pellets later revision but forgot this morning.
This item in not eligible for return so I asked for a refund from Amz. This was no hassle refund so this part was good. I will may be step up and pay a bit more for a better model.

I own both rifles in 22 and 177 calibers because I was impressed by the accuracy. I like accurate brake barrel rifles and own mostly Crosman, Gamo and Benjamin break barrels plus a few pump and pcp. I think these rifles are well made, durable and very accurate at least from what I’ve experienced. You can criticize any make all you want to but it comes down to what people will pay. Most pellet rifles are capable of out shooting the owners anyway so that’s the bottom line. Finding a scope to last is the problem with break barrels.

Let’s just say this is an amazing pellet rifle in a cal you can humanly take small game. The build is a bit bulky but it is durable, you will want to get a real scope and maybe shave the front sight. My hats off to Crossman you have come along way in quality and design. Just get it and the price is on point!
