Purchased two of these devices for use in our computer area – as an IT employee and manager with more than 25 years of experience, I can tell you that:

    – The fit & finish is on-par with PDUs from major brands and vendors (Dell, HP, IBM). The device feels premium (weight, balance) and ships with the mounting brackets built-in. Note that the mounting brackets are built onto the unit and cannot be removed; if you want to remove them, you will need to bend or saw them off. Note that mounting screws are NOT included – plan to purchase mounting screws or hardware separately if required.

    – The outlets are on the rear of the PDU. If you have wide power adapters (“bricks”), they will cover TWO outlets – plan to purchase short power cable extensions (if needed) to get full utilization of the PDU.

    – The lit power switch on the front of the device is a nice touch and appreciated. Anyone who has ever worked in a dense, rack filled environment will tell you that these save time (no tracing the cable to disconnect it) and make work easier.

Users who deploy the PDU under a desk will appreciate that the power switch has a plastic cover that comes down over the power switch – the cover is semi-transparent, allowing you to see the light, but hard enough to prevent an accidental shutdown of the PDU with toes or shoes.

    – The PDU is longer than a traditional power bar. Plan for this before purchasing.

    – The power cable running from the back of the PDU is beefy. Use cable ties to attach it to a side rail of your equipment rack, or use Velcro ties to tame the cable.

CyberLink has produced a solid switched PDU worthy of a place on your equipment rack at the office, or in your lab at home.

The price is right for this enterprise-grade equipment – get a few, purchase some Velcro ties, and get to work.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

El cable para conectar a la corriente tiene la configuración para 18 amperes, por lo que tienes que conectarlo a) en un contacto especial o b) remplazar la punta del conector por una estándar.

I’ve bought no less than five of these now for putting together PA racks for use at music venues. They work great because the back plugs can be utilized for equipment in the rack while the front plugs are great for add on equipment like a wireless mic receiver, power cord for a powered monitor, pedal board power, etc. Cord is plenty hefty and long enough for almost al applications.

I added a UPS to my rack setup recently, so I needed to pull my old surge-suppression PDU and add one that doesn’t have any built-in surge suppression (that function is handled by the UPS now). It voids the UPS’s equipment warranty if you have devices hooked to a surge strip of any kind, so you need something like this instead. I’m very happy with what CyberPower produced here! Plenty of outlets, a nice long cord (it was overkill for my setup, but still great that they have it), and the plastic protective cover over the power switch is a nice touch to prevent accidental switch presses. It’s a heavy gauge of steel and feels VERY sturdy. It’s doing the job I bought it for, and it looks good in the rack. Great product.

I’m a musician and I use this unit to power my live rack which houses my wireless in-ear monitor system, my wireless guitar transmitter system, my wireless microphone receiver, a small mixer, a headphone amp and an audio interface. Additionally, it also powers my laptop and sometimes other devices that other musicians I play with use. I’ve had this thing for over 2 years now, it has been used on stage in a variety of venues and even 2 outdoor festivals, in addition to regular use at our rehearsal place. It works really well and keeps all of my devices in great shape. I cannot recommend this enough. Don’t skimp on the one thing that all your other things are connected to.

Great deal on a great product. I recently needed to create a “mobile kitchen island” and attaching this to it I’m now able to move my mobile kitchen wherever I please. The 20A and heavy duty cord for this price is an extremely great value. All the outlets are 20A as well which is nice. There’s also a reset button and power switch if you need them. The only thing missing is network capabilities, but for this price I didn’t expect it to have it anyway.

There does seem to be a shipping issue with this product though. The box it comes in is very thin and it seems to be thrown into another box that is barely bigger than the box it comes in. This means there’s no padding for the rack mounts on the sides. Twice I’ve received bent rack mounts because of this. The first was bent all the way upon itself, making it unusable should I ever want to rack it. The second arrived slightly bent, but with the proper tools can be easily bent back so I decided to keep it.

Solid metal casing, with outlets front and back, and feels and appears very well built. Good specs, with a good surge protection rating. A great edition to my rack.

The price is good, the amount of outlets and Joule protection are good too, unfortunately my unit arrived with one of the rack mounting tabs warped out of shape. The box it came in is extremely flimsy, I was lucky it was packed into another box with something else I ordered because this box on it’s own would have not survived the shipping. I can see where the original box was damaged causing the mount to be bent.

All outlets work though I have not had a chance to test them with a ground meter yet. A few screws and bolts for mounting would have been nice but these are not included. The design is fairly solid, it’s metal but a soft metal that allows bending of the mounting tabs pretty easy (so I was able to bend it back the way it should be with my hands). The spacing between the outlets on the back is great for use with adapters (routers, firewalls, weird shaped plugs).

The power button is covered with a plastic cover. While a nice touch, it seems like it was not part of the original design and slapped on afterwards. It’s very thin so probably won’t survive very long if you use it often. It also makes the overall design look cheap as it really takes away from the solid matte black design.

The 3 LED lights (Power, Ground, Surge // Orange, Green, Red) are nice but the power LED is ridiculously bright!! The Ground and Surge LED’s are a subtle matte glow but the Power LED can light up a small room (I tested this). There is no reason for it to be this bright specially since the power button itself has an LED in it too.

I’ll adjust this review once I test every outlet with a ground meter and a heavy load. Overall it will do what it needs to do, is very compact (depth) and the long (thick and sturdy) power cord is nice too. Packaging needs to be addressed as does the choice in Power LED.

Update: Went from a 3 star to a 4 star rating. Started a chat with Amazon to say the unit was damaged. I was offered a replacement unit or a $10 partial refund. I went for the $10 to save me the hassle. This now made the product/price more awesome so I recommend contacting Amazon support if your unit arrives (or has arrived) damaged. Smooth support from Amazon.

First things first, accept what this is. An overglorified, rack mountable, 15 amp power strip with 10 outlets. It is not a UPS, it is not a surge supressor, it is merely a PDU. It is limited to 15 amps of total current

I work in large enterprise IT as a systems administrator, and I deal with rack PDUs all the time from the likes of Dell, Cyberpower, APC, Belkin, etc… I was doing a relay / networking rack install for my home training lab / office , and I wanted a clean way to run power to all of my devise. You may notice a good number of those devices are actually desktop type. And yes they have wall wart type transformers, and no they don’t work well with the PDU. I had to run 1′ power extensions from the PDU to the wall warts. 3M double stick foam tape holds the wall warts to the tray immediately above the PDU. It works great, and has as clean of a look as is physically possible considering the sheer volume of cables running to and from this rack.

The PDU itself is bade of a sturdy metal construction housing, drilled for rack mounting holes, with a convenient master switch, and 10 standard black outlets along the back. A heavy duty, long power cable provides incoming power. I have mine set up as the only device drawing power from an OLD CyberPower CP585AVR UPS that I refurbished a few months ago. No more daisy chains of power strips hung off the UPS, and no more UPS on my desk. The UPS sits nicely behind the desk on the floor, and like I mentioned, the cables are routed neatly within the rack.

All in all I am quite pleased with the reliability, and performance dollar for dollar that CyberPower products have provided myself, and my employers / clients over the years. I fully intend to continue doing business with them for the foreseeable future.
