Voilà plusieurs mois que j’utilise cette lampe torche pour mon vélo (et j’en ai acheté une seconde à Noel pour le vélo de ma femme qui part bosser de nuit aussi le matin en hiver). Rien à redire, mon vélo est toujours dehors, la lampe n’a pas bougé et fonctionne bien. Batterie résistante, la lampe s’installe en 3 secondes, elle tient bien sur le guidon et surtout ca éclaire vraiment bien !
très bien, je recommande pour ma part et si j’en perdais une, je rachèterais celle ci sans hésiter (car j’en ai écumé des modèles entre celles qui n’éclairent pas, qui tombent en panne ou ne tiennent pas, là c’est la première fois que je trouve ce que je recherche: de la qualité)

I searched through Amazon buyer comments to find a bike light and bought one that was very well rated (except for one comment that recommended Cycle Torch’s Shark 500). After trying the light that was well rated, I found I needed/wanted better lighting. Remembering the comment on the light I bought, I ordered Cycle Torch’s Shark 500.
When the Shark 500 came, It operated fine right out of the box but its indicator showed it needed to be charged. After charging (blue light turned on), I disconnected the charger. The indicator light turned off but the Shark 500 would not turn on. When I reconnected the charger, the indicator light stayed off. I tried holding the switch on for several seconds, pressing it rapidly on and off, looking at it crosseyed, … nothing worked. Other buyers had commented on Cycle Torch’s great customer service, so I contacted them. They responded immediately and replaced the unit (very fast shipping!).
(After receiving the replacement unit, I tried once again recharging the original unit just to see if it would “fix itself.” Well, it did that, now it works. The indicator light on the original is still “flaky,” but otherwise the light is working well.)

The Shark 500 bike light is as bright, perhaps brighter, than my 1000 lumen bike light (the one that didn’t provide enough light), provides much better lighting than any other bike or flashlight I own (I own several good quality lights, though none of the really expensive ones), and works very well as a quick-remove flashlight. The field of illumination is very good. Most (all the others I’ve tried) bike lights provide a bright center spot with much, much dimmer surrounding area, a spotlight kind of illumination. The Shark 500 provides the same sort of center spotlight but with more “usable” light surrounding it. Overall, the illumination shape is much like a car’s windshield. The effect is something like a combined spotlight and floodlight. This design yields good distance lighting – a few hundred feet – and good lighting of the area close in. An excellent design. Plus, the light itself appears to be very well designed – a high quality product.
The Shark 500 uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which provides several hours of bright light. It recharges (4 hours, or so) via standard micro-USB port just like so many other devices, comes with USB cable (no charger – can use USB port on pc or cellphone-type charger), has bright, medium, low, and blinking light patterns, and uses an included rubber strap to mount onto the bike (this mounting scheme strikes me as much better than the plastic slide-on mounts used on other lights – the ones that break so easily and aren’t repairable).
The Shark 500 comes with a separate rear light that is also rechargeable via included USB cable (about 2 hour charge time). It provides the choice of constant on with two levels of brightness or two flashing light patterns.The rear light mounts with a thick, heavy O-ring somewhat similar to the scheme for the front light. This mounting scheme provides very quick and easy mounting and removal of both front and rear lights and holds very well.
A feature I didn’t realize at first – you can determine the approximate remaining battery charge when the light is off by holding the power button down for three seconds. It will then blink to show remaining charge: 10 times=100%, 9 times=90%, and so on. This is very handy when you’re wondering if you’ll have enough light for your next ride.
I am quite pleased with this purchase and heartily recommend this light and this company!!! Wish every company had this high a quality product and such excellent customer service. I can’t see how you could go wrong with Cycle Torch!

I had this light on my bike for 2 40mins rides in the dry and the rear red light is now no longer working. Button doesn’t press anymore to turn on. Very disappointing. I expect a replacement or refund

I don’t usually write reviews but I thought this was important. I have been really pleased with this bike light. The front light is incredibly bright and has allowed me to cycle with confidence on unlit cycle paths. I usually dip it when other bikes are approaching as it is blinding to them. The battery lasts well – I have to charge it after every 3 – 4 hours of constant usage on the brightest setting. The back light was a real bonus and I really like it. The only problem I have had is that the rubber bung on the front light, that protects the usb port, is fairly flimsy and after 1 year of use it went missing. However, I contacted the seller to see if I could buy a replacement bung and they kindly sent me a new one. I have been very impressed. Well worth the money

I purchased two of these, one for my bike and the other for my wife’s bike. We have been taking the kids for a ride in the evenings on a local golf course and these fit the bill nicely.
I used to be an avid mountain biker and had a high end lighting system complete with two lights attached to a water bottle battery pack to light up the trail at night. I will say, 25 years worth of lighting tech has paid off and these lights far out preform the older tech! The more I use this rubber strap system, the more it just makes sense. I like being able to adjust the light by rotating the entire light and strap up or down when I am on the road as to not blind oncoming cars and pedestrians. That was something I could not do with the old system.
The light is on the larger side but is not an issue. It is lightweight and projects a beam that is not a spot light nor a wide angle flood light. Would it meet the need of a serious off road night rider down the single track, no. Does it meet the need for the rest of us casual riders that get caught out after the sun goes down, ABSOLUTELY!
Cars had no issues seeing me, I had no issues seeing the path and I am able to get the family home without issues. That goes down as a win in my book. The addition of the tail light just tops the charts! It is small, lightweight, well made and just works. I like the slow fade setting as to not startle traffic, however, when out on the trail, my son likes me to have the steady bright setting on the tail light so he can keep track of me from a further distance.
I can not speak to battery life just yet as when I received the package, I put them straight on the bikes and we went for an 8 mile ride. I had the lights on for about an hour and they were still bright when we got back! At that rate, if I just need to charge them every other ride or two that would be fine by me.
I would not hesitate making this purchase again if needed or recommending this to others. On that note, if you are looking at this as a gift (perhaps for that high school grad going off to college), the packaging is really nice and sturdy, feels top quality and would wrap up nicely.
Overall, a nicely executed product from Cycle Torch at a very reasonable price geared for a varied audience.
