Have used this Router for months now and it works great. I like to give things a good run for their money before commenting. No problems and reboots great if their is say electricity is shut off for example. Have used it for about 5 months and is just great and well worth the money!
David Watson –
Easy setup, works, see how long it lasts.

Overall a nice product but it takes forever (90+ seconds) to restart every time you change anything in its wireless config.

No es mejor que el r15 pero funciona. El alcance no es el. Mejor el software. Se actualizo y siguió con deficiencia para mà gustó

This increased my internet speeds for my phone and my pc to a much higher speed than my $25 Walmart router i was using. I’ve had this for probably about six months now and i have never had a problem with it.

(I just noticed that the price of this went up $7 in the three days that I’ve had the router. It was worth the money I paid at $27 but not $34! Where’s it going to end? If D-Link thinks this is a $50 router, they’re fooling themselves.)
What’s good:
1. It’s cheap.
2. It works. I thought that it wasn’t going to be able to communicate with my two bridge extenders (a TP-Link and a Linksys running DD-WRT), but it can.
3. It’s fast.
What’s bad:
The software.
1. The firmware was at 1.0.9 something when I installed it and at 1.02.02 now. And the “AI” STILL doesn’t work. LOL! The “smart” router doesn’t know how to change the WiFi channel intelligently, so it just turns off the WiFi completely! See how smart it is? I think it should run for Congress.
2. The user interface is an abomination. Instead of having everything laid out in a nice, logical fashion where you can see all the information you need, you have to click through menu after menu. And to make your search for the settings you want even more fun: a) no manual is included (my favorite!); and b) the UI logs you out automatically after 3 minutes! And there’s no way of changing the timeout. They must have had their “smart” AI design the interface…
3. Don’t try to change the WiFi channel manually because you can’t. Ha-ha-ha! Take that, power user! (EDIT: Weeks later, I had turn turn off the “Smart” Connect feature because of drop-outs and voila! The channel option was enabled. The manual is just awful!)
I’ll take a dumb router any day.

Super simple to install. This is the second one I’ve purchased, this one is for my business. Great seller and speedy delivery is also a plus!

WIFI at a reasonable price. We were tired of price increases and poor customer service. Saying our service was working after months waiting for a service that dropped out and would freeze.

I had a DIR-1950 that I only had for a couple of years until I had a problem with it and they told me it was legacy and not supported anymore. So I bought its cousin the R18 to replace it. (Same brand). The R18 gives stronger coverage in my three bedroom house and gaming performance is greatly improved. Not a single device in my house (and I have a lot) complained about this router. And the interface although visually different was very familiar from my previous D-Link. I can live with one fewer Ethernet port and no power switch. This thing rocks.

Overall this router is a vast improvement over the generic router sent to me by my ISP. It handles heavy traffic much more efficiently, my house has three desktop computers, three gaming consoles, and when the kid’s friends are over there’s well over a dozen phones and consoles connected to the WiFi. This would really bog down my old router, but this is where the D-Link’s built in dual-core processor shines. The UI is simple and easy to use while having plenty of options for advanced users, the best one being the ability to assign certain devices priority bandwidth access, the range of the signal is great, probably almost four times that of my old router. Only have one complaint, which is why I gave four stars overall: the router is supposed to automatically assign devices to the two different WiFi networks, if a device is 5G capable it is supposed to connect it to the 5 GHz network, and if it is not 5G only then connect it to the 2.4 GHz. This is not the case for me however, I have my personal PC connected via ethernet, but my wife and step-son’s PC’s are connected via WiFi, they both have 5G capable WiFi adapters but they were frequently getting connected to the 2G network, as were 5G phones. Now it didn’t always do this, I’d say 60% of the time devices got connected correctly, but that meant 40% of the time most devices were on the 2G network which really bogs it down. So I had to resolve this by going in and disabling this feature and creating two separate 5G and 2G networks. Other then that, works like a charm.

I have a fairly big home (3,400 sq ft) with my internet provider’s modem/router downstairs and my big TV upstairs. While I have a fantastic internet package, my TV was constantly giving the buffering signal as it was not getting a very good signal.
I tried using some cheap repeaters as an option which seemed to slow everything down in the house. I then tried a cheap router from another company and got disastrous results. Internet speed was all over the place and the range was terrible. I decided to bite the bullet and buy this device.
Setup was a piece of cake. Normally, when I go into a router’s settings, it leaves me feeling overwhelmed with all the settings. I’m sure this router also has all those complex settings but it had a very handy wizard that allowed me set things up. It basically said, “what is your network name and what will the password be”. There is also a feature that you can use your phone to connect to the device and do things that way but I did things the old fashioned way of typing in the IP address. (Don’t forget to turn off the antenna for your internet provider’s modem/router so that it only works as a modem).
I now have a full strength signal and netflix no longer buffers anywhere in my house. No problems connecting to my work VPN either. I am very happy with my purchase.

Better than I expected while being much cheaper than netgear brand I’ve always purchased in the past.
