As cordas lisas são demais. Gostosas de tocar e muito bacanas para quem procura um som mais aveludado ou grave. Mas nada justifica a pequena fortuna que estão custando, estes tipos de cordas. Comprei em um preço promocional, o que me custou uma corda nova, mas já com dois pontos de oxidação. Esta não é a primeira vez que isso acontece comigo. Como são cordas caras e que têm pouca saÃda, vale a pena escolher bem o fornecedor.

Good strings. Nice and smooth on the fingers. This was my first time using flatwound strings. I’m primarily a guitar player. However, flatwound strings are a lot higher tension and cause hand fatigue. Being higher tension, you can lower the action a lot. This helped. I might try some low tension flatwound next time, but that might be several years. These last a long time.

I switched over one bass to these from medium light roundwounds and love the difference. Silky smooth with a wonderful mellow tone. I can replicate the deep thumpy bass tones popular in the sixties and seventies and with a few turns of the tone control get the somewhat brighter tones popular today without the twang you get with rounds. I will probably change over my other bass in the future.

Compré estas cuerdas buscando un equilibrio en cuanto a la brillantez de las cuerdas. Siempre he usado Roundwounds pero ahora necesito un sonido más oscuro pero sin perder claridad…eso son estas cuerdas, en mi opinión son excelentes ya que no son tan opacas como las Flats tradicionales como las LaBella; me parece que están ubicadas entre las Roundwounds y las Flatwounds tradicionales. Incluso proporcionan un buen sonido de Slap si se requiere, pero más profundo y menos brillantes, que es el sonido que yo estaba buscando.
En cuanto a durabilidad no puedo opinar porque tengo poco tiwmpo con ellas, algo menos de un mes. Pero es conocido que las Flatwounds tiene una durabilidad superior a las Roundwounds.
En cuanto a la relación calidad-precio sin duda es excelente.
Definitivamente son mis favoritas en esta etapa que busco ese tipo de sonido.

I bought these as an experiment to see what flats were like for my American Jazz bass. I went with D’Addario, because its what i know and I’ve used them for 35 years for Guitars and basses.
The strings took a little getting used to, and i wasn’t completely sold at first. But then- after about five months, the TONE became AWESOME. Smooth, silky, right there when you need it. And no scratching. Its hard to describe, but you will notice. I use fingers style for almost everything, so I haven’t’ had a need to use a pick. But that being said, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work with a pick.
Also, its hard to go back to rounds now. The scratching just isn’t there for flats. I just bought a new American P bass, and it came with rounds. I just don’t like the round sound anymore, so i ordered another set for the new bass.
Also to note, these 100-45 flats replaced my 105-45 rounds perfectly. They are stiffer, so you will need to adjust the action a tad.

Been playing for a long time and I am in a band playing 60’s through 80’s music again. The roundwound strings I had been using just didn’t seem to cut it for music from this period. Upper register notes just didn’t have the authority necessary (strong mids) so I decided to go back to flatwounds. Did a lot of internet research and learned that the flatwound that appeared to me to be most respected by other bassists is the D’Addario XL Chromes. I’m here to say, these are the real deal and I think, through my bass’s active tone controls, they have all the highs and lows I’ll ever need for any kind of music. On one flatwound set I tried before (I won’t mention the name), and on some roundwound sets, the B string was too hot compared to the other strings but with this set the string-to-string balance is excellent and, most importantly, my upper register notes have plenty of mid to cut through the mix and still sound like they came from a bass.
Pictured is my lovely Pedulla Rapture RBJ2-5 with a set of D’Addario XL Chromes ECB81-5, the lightest gauge set of Chromes. And for you fellow Rapture owners, the B string was a tiny bit tight but fit in the bridge without modification. I was a bit worried at first because I like keeping this bass in original condition. I have a very light piece of foam at the bridge to eliminate unwanted harmonics and add a little Jamerson thump, and yes, these strings do harmonics well. Some flatwound sets do not. I am very happy with this set of strings.
Oh, I need to add that my band plays tuned down one-half step. These strings handle that tuning exceptionally well at extremely low string height. The strings are a bit more taught than the roundwounds I previously had on this bass but not so much I cannot bend them easily. After setup (neck adjustment, string height and intonation) there is almost zero fret noise. I like that. These are great strings!

Really nice light gauge, smooth, flexible flat wound bass strings. Put them on my 63 P Bass to reduce the tension on its ageing neck- they work a treat with no noticeable difference to the tone compared with heavier gauge flats.

I am new to flatwound bass strings so i have a few comments about them. I have these installed on my Epiphone Thunderbird 4 String bass. Having been a bassist for years i always used round strings with no problem, but after a several year playing hiatus, i bought a new bass and i’m playing again. My fingers have gone soft and the stock strings on my bass were tearing into them like parmesan cheese. A friend told me about flatwounds which i’d never seen, and I decided to give them a shot. What i found was the pleasure of playing increased dramatically. My fingers slide up and down the strings like silk now, and it makes me faster, and more comfortable than ever before.
The tone is nice, rich and fat with ABSOLUTELY NO STRING NOISE. slide as much as you want, there will be no squeaks and squeals when you move your fingers. This is worth the cost of admission and completely makes up for some of the strings cons.
Cons: I play a 4 string tuned drop D. Even when tuned to E the bottom string lacks character moreso than the other strings. When you tune down, you lose even more character. What i mean is there’s less sustain on this string, less trebel, its just kind of muddy and blah. I’m not happy with the sound of the E string in this set.
My roundwound strings are also louder when played unplugged. I cant hear what i’m playing as clearly and the strings don’t seem to resonate as long or as brightly as the previous rounds did.
I am looking to change out the bottom string, i’ve read that other brands are better for drop tuning, so i may try something else next time, but this is a good entry into the world of flatwounds and i’m very happy i switched.
From a quality standpoint I’d like to mention these strings are well made. They’re not chrome-looking compared to my previous rounds, they’re more of a polished steel look, and up close sort of resemble doc ock’s robot arms from spiderman. The silk wraps on the end of each string are dark purple and look very nice and uniform when installed.

This is my first time trying flats, and I really, really like them. I have them on an ESP LTD F-1005 with Fishman pickups that was just too bright…. Not only did these strings sound amazing, the tone was fantastic and killed a bunch of fret buzz as well… Great strings!

Estas cuerdas aporta muchos graves bien definidos a tu bajo, las recomiendo bastante, aunque eso si el calibre de 50-105 brinda mucha tensión al instrumento.
