Of all the Dewalt lighting alternatives using the 20v batteries this is by far my favorite. The 1000/300 lumens brightness options of are great for the work I do and the adjustable neck is priceless. I also like that it doesn’t take up much room in my power-tool bag when fully opened, about the same size as a 25 oz water bottle. I can’t imagine a better portable work light and the price point here on Amazon is by far the best. Highly recommended!

I was hesitant to buy such an expensive light bulb, when I have a ton of those free small flashlights. However those are always dead when I need them, and I already have several DeWalt batteries and tools, and have been impressed with many of my DeWalt tools over the years. So I found this on sale, and went for it. So first off, this thing is BRIGHT. Even using it a while it doesn’t seem to get hot on the face, which is nice when you need to grab it. I threw a 2aH battery at it, and it ran a long long time. I may actually pick up a second one for when my dog doesn’t want to come in the house late at night and I have to go find him with a flash light. If you want a nice light for hanging, for working on an engine or for under a sink while you do real work. Get a real flashlight that’s durable and uses batteries you already have.

It not cheap because you have to buy the battery separately, but it’s an investment tool. I’ve been looking for a light like this for the past year; the lights I looked at either hang or have a stand, never both. Thats what makes this unit unique. Super bright and long battery life. I highly recommend it.

Very impressed with the Dewalt DCL050 20v LED Worklight for three reasons: 1) rugged, 2) large, even, light coverage, and 3) long battery life.
This light feels rugged and appears to match the quality of other Dewalt 20v power tools. At first glance, the pivoting head seems a bit elongated, but you get used to it very quickly. The rubberized grip and trigger is comfortable and ergonomically shaped. Squeezing the trigger once puts it in 500 lumens (high) mode. Another squeeze switches to 250 lumens (low). A 3rd and final squeeze turns it off. The 140 degree, 9 angle, click-into-position, pivoting head, comes in very handy. When the head is moved into the far downward position (90 degree angle), it makes an outstanding reading light while camping or during a power outage! Not sure how it feels while using the smaller 1.5 – 2.0 amp batteries, but with the heavier, 4.0 amp Dewalt battery it has a very balanced feel to it.
For those that need to illuminate a work area in a small to moderate sized space, the well dispersed light from the DCL050 is very effective. It provides approx. 130-140 degrees of distinctly circular, even light coverage. The pattern is similar to an old-school, “flood” light; however, the DCL050’s light pattern is even wider and more evenly dispersed—no hot spots, beams, or irritating lines. The vast majority of lights on the market have a focused, narrow, spot-type beam. The DCL050 is not a “spot” light. If you need this type of beam pattern suggest taking a look at the Dewalt DCL043 or DCL040. I might add the DCL050 produces a very white light–not quite blue, but definitely much, much whiter than a typical incandescent light.
As for battery life, I believe Dewalt advertises 3-4 hours on the 500 lumen/high position. I can only assume this estimate is based on the use of 1.5 to 2 amp batteries. With higher capacity 4.0 amp Dewalt batteries, I get a consistent 8 hours of light in the 500 lumen (high) position. When the battery is nearly exhausted, the light output automatically drops to 250 lumens and starts to “flash” occasionally in a distinct, programmed fashion—a friendly reminder the battery needs charged/replaced soon.
No battery, charger, or belt clip are provided with this light. For those that already own other Dewalt 20v power tools (and already have the 20v batteries and charger), this DCL050 LED worklight is a very useful, functional addition to your existing Dewalt 20v arsenal!

The Dewalt light works great. The battery attached to the bottom provides a stable base. The amount of light is great. I especially like how the head, LED light portion, is adjustable allowing the light to point exactly where needed. The light is a good value if you are already on a Dewalt battery platform

Cool work light. Runs a long time off 1.5 ah power stack battery. Very bright and adjustable. Little costly for a work light but I got on sale and since I have a bunch of Dewalt batteries I went ahead. I love Dewalt stuff but would honestly say I wouldn’t buy this at full price. It’s a light. It’s a nice one but it’s not magical or anything.
It’s regular price is 80-90$. Luckily you can find it on sale fairly regularly for about 55$.
For 55$ it’s worth it if you already have dewalt stuff (batteries) otherwise I’d skip it for a less expensive option.
