Work great take some getting used to as both drills are short than normal. Also use the2 inch pits for the hammer drill

I can’t speak to the drill in this kit but the stubby impact is a clear winner in this kit. It’s my go to impact now and it a great all around driver for tight spaces with power to spare for driving 3” screws all day. Once you use one of these you’ll reach for it every time you need an impact.

the DCF850 driver was the main reason for me purchasing this combo kit that came with the DCD 800 drill. I’ve used the driver a lot more than the drill but can say they both work as expected.. I’ve been using some impact driver bits that I’ve had laying around in my toolbox for years.. it’s so obviously, there is no need to go out and buy anything specifically made by DeWalt. The batteries, being the 2ah variant of their 20V Max battery was my only concern. I had read that the two amp hour version was just weak sauce and wasn’t pushing out enough power to really take full advantage of these new drivers and drills. there might be some truth to that for uses on a construction site whatever, but my use is just everyday around the house tasks …. I’m not drilling 10″ wood screws in thick pieces of wood.. I’m drilling into drywall and 2×4 studs.. I’m disassembling audio equipment that use machine screws… and the driver is plenty powerful. I’ve actually kept it on the first and second setting. haven’t had to put it on the third power yet because even the second setting is crazy powerful.. also, I charged the batteries when I got my order over a month ago. I’ve used the driver at least 3-5 times per week and the battery status LEDs (3) are still all lit up. .. so I am impressed with how much energy the batteries are able to store as well as the efficiency of these brushless motors.

PS: my boss at work is in construction, and is a big DeWalt fanboy.. that was a big reason why I chose DeWalt as my first driver & drill purchase. I think I made him a little jealous when he saw my new, extra stubby driver! don’t let its stubbiness fool you tho, cuz it will go head to head with any of the big boys.
AVE did a tear down video on YouTube of this driver and he noted some definite improvements in the waltz manufacturing process.. all in all this looks to be a very well engineered device.

Wow DeWalt. I can understand why some folks are frustrated with your products as of late. I bought this drill with he hope that the battery works and other issues I had heard and read about might have been addressed.
I just got my combo set in the mail and when I opened the box and looked at my DCF850 I saw something I wasn’t sure what it was. So I looked it up in the manual and all I could find about it was the picture on page 1, Figure A, Number 7 – “mode selector”. Ok. So I scoured the almost unreadable English text and found exactly nothing referencing this feature on my Impact Driver.
So what is it? What does it do? What is it used for?
You know DeWalt. If you’re going to include a manual with your equipment I think it would be a great idea that you proofread your manuals and make sure you include all the information about said features and make it so you can read about it. When you use light gray text on white pages its almost impossible to read. And now, I’ll finish this up so I can go look for information about, “mode selector”.
