Great camera. Excellent battery life and really good integration with Osmo Mic 2.
Night filming is fantastic on this. I prefer it over GoPro13 but for overall image quality and features, it’s a couple of steps behind Insta 360.

This is my very first action cam. I’m a father of 2 kids and my main purpose is to recored videos of family gatherings, travelings, and bike rides. Also, I was hoping for the permanent solution for any family who record many things and wonder what to do with enormous amount of videos, by having just one video for a whole trip. In this way, I thought I could solve the problem that my phone can’t live long enough to record everything while using maps or searching something. I need an action cam that can last long and liberate my phone from recording videos.
Originally I was going to get a GoPro 13 as it rolled out, and this one rolled out right after the GoPro.
I did some research on both of them, and the review is more favorable on this DJI thing. In future I’m planning to get a drone from DJI, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to try that out.
Pros: Good action cam
Cons: You gotta download your videos to your iPhone first in order to do editing, and what’s worse is that is the only devices we can do the editing. No official edit app on PC, Macbook. I even tried editing on my iPad Pro, but the DJI Mimo app was designed for iPhone and not working very well, while the app for iPhone is not working well either. There is just 40-ish GB storage left on my iPhone. I was very reluctant to download everything on my iPhone because of the phone storage, but I ended up doing so simply because that seemed to be only one selection that exists.
Downloading takes time. My phone is 15Pro. Editing is hard, there’s no official instruction videos from DJI about how to start editing. Editing on iPhone is too small display size to edit. Freezed many times. My iPhone got really hot. My phone’s battery drained really fast. Why am I even doing this? I wanted to free my phone from video thing. It is convenient for very short, but I think even light editing is meant on bigger display.
Another cons: DJI is a newer action cam maker when compared to GoPro. This means there’s less acccessaries for DJI. I hope DJI will catch up on every aspects soon or many people will leave.
I’m still trying to get used to this new gagets, trying to like this more. But I keep failing.
I found GoPro to have desktop app and it sounds so good.

I bought this camera mainly for the low light capability and wow! It does not disappoint! Took it out to shoot some night footage in the rain and was just blown away by how good it looks. The sample video is a “hyperlapse” with default settings and no post production other than downconverting from 4k to 1080. The still photo is from a video in standard (not SuperNight) mode.
I’ve been a Pocket3 fan for a while and I’ve been looking for something that had that same big sensor quality in an action cam package. While it’s not the 1″ sensor of the P3 it’s close at 1/1/3″. I also have gopros and none of them even come close to this at night. The best you can do with a GoPro is a G11/12/13 in some of the long shutter night modes, and even those are noisier than anything out of the Action5. The thing to keep in mind is even if you shoot mostly daylight stuff there will be situations where you’re in shadow and that’s where you’ll see the differences. I’d love to have some of the GoPro modes in the Action5, but end of the day the image quality is what counts…and the Action5 is awesome.

The low light capabilities are what I was attracted to. Absolutely blows every action camera right now out of the water currently on the market. The full frame sensor, the dynamic range, 4K 120. Everything is just perfect about this.

I’ve owned and used multiple generations of the DJI Action Cameras, and a few different GoPros and this is the best of the best!
The image quality right out of the box is really nice, and gets even better with D-Log, and some color grading. Tons of modes and frame rate settings make it very versatile and adds lots of variety.
I use Action Cameras for automotive videos mostly, and the Action 5 is perfect for automotive content creators. The ability to use 2 DJI Mics at the same time is great for inside the car speaking and vlogs, and then another mic can be placed to record exhaust sounds.
Battery life is pretty amazing and lasted at an all day track event over the weekend. Battery life is better than any other action camera from any brand that I’ve used, by a pretty significant margin.
Low light performance is also way better than expected and I plan on taking this little camera everywhere. Stabilization is great as well, and can be hand held in most situations.
It’s a nice step up from the Action 4, and can’t be beat for the price. Or at any price really.
If you’re in the market for an action cam, I recommend the DJI 5 Pro 1000%!

Moved from GoPro to the Action 5. I really liked my GoPro, but love the Action 5. Seems more durable, stabilization features are great, and this kit came with a camera cage so I can easily shoot vertically or horizontally when setting the camera down. Menus are easy to access and intuitive. Tracking feature and low light capabilities are stand-outs. The charging case is slim and easy to take along. Another great product from DJI!

Absolutely amazing camera!! Huge upgrade from the Osmo Action 4. The low light is amazing and the on board audio quality has greatly improved! DJI has offered reliable and amazing cameras for a long time. And they have been much more reliable than GoPro for many years.
My only gripe, is not with DJI. But with Amazon. It was out for delivery. Six stops away. And for some reason the delivery was not completed. So it had to wait for the next day. The initial customer service person assured me that it would be delivered that night. It didn’t sound right as tracking showed it having suddenly arrived back at the distribution facility. So the second person confirmed it would not arrive until the following day.
