I use it to hold one of my larger Tom’s. Works great. Well made. You can adjust the tension (how tight it holds the drum)— loose allows drum to resonance tight deadens. Varying the tension gives different degrees of resonance.

This stand is beautiful and very functional. If you’re looking for a flat-base snare/tom stand, this should definitely be in your top 3 choices.
Pros: Snare basket nut, fit and finish, solid DW construction! It is indeed lightweight, but not the very lightest (which is Gibraltar’s).
Cons: It’s SO flat you can barely fit a standard microphone cord under it! Seriously, I worry I might be severing them if I’m hitting too hard. Plus, some upgraded snare basket rubber would be nice at this price point, instead of the smaller/thinner stuff. These are just “nits,” in the end.

    The Bottom Line:
Would I buy again? Hell yes, unless you’re looking for a “super-short, super-duper-light” snare stand. This is short, very short, but the Gibraltar is just a hair shorter. It is also a hair lighter, although the difference is so small, that could just be a balance difference. Either way, if those are your primary objectives, go with the Gibraltar, recognizing the finish isn’t as good (nor the price as high, however!). But otherwise the DW has everyone beat, hands down! Bravo. If you’re willing to spend that is. (I don’t factor price into my overall review/stars, so that’s just an aside.)

Bought as an extra snare stand for wood hoop PDP snare that is a little wider diameter than most. Also using it for a 13 inch rack tom. This hardware is a little spendy, but light weight and hard to beat when it comes to quality and versatility.

Reminiscent of the older Slingerland snare & cymbal stands, but with better engineering and construction. Looking for a lightweight, yet sturdy snare stand? This is it.

    Likes – lightweight and sturdy.
Dislikes – Can’t set the snare basket perfectly flat. The teeth in the mechanism to tilt the snare basket are not aligned such that you can set the drum perfectly flat. It is off by a few degrees no matter how you set it. I like my snare flat. I’ll keep this for my rack tom that I do tilt but will look for another brand that can be set flat.

I am a professional drummer, and gig a lot.
I got this stand for my piccolo snare drum, and it is very sturdy.
The twist lock, make it easy to set up your snare drum, for tightness.
The wing nut (for lowering and raising the base) is a little tricky.
You have to turn the wing nut to almost out, for the legs to start to be lowered or raised.
Over all, it is a great stand.

I use this stand with my “travel” kit and the entire hardware pack I have can be carried in one small bag over my shoulder and this stand is very lightweight and compact making it perfect for us older drummers who never became famous enough to have a roadie!

I actually use it for a Tom that sits next to my countless kick…
