I am really, really conflicted about this product. It meets a very specific hair styling need for me – I have a LOT of very thick hair cut into a short shag. The under layers dry into adorable curls and waves but the top right section tends to dry flat. It does best with air drying except for that ridiculous top section that is just hard to deal with. I am not good at styling my hair nor given my busy family and work schedule am I willing to dedicate more time and effort to doing so just for that one stubborn section that needs to be dried and curled to match the rest.
Enter this product. By causing my hair to dry faster it helps โlock inโ the curls/waves that tend to fall out/loosen as my hair air dries, especially in regard to that one stubborn section. It would be a dream come true if it werenโt for the absolutely TOXIC smell. Smell isnโt even quite the right termโฆitโs more like the particles inhaled cause my lungs to seize up. I quickly figured out that in order to use it I have to take and hold a deep breath, spray, and then completely leave the room before inhaling again. Even using this strategy I still feel a reaction. I donโt know if itโs just me or if it affects other in this manner as I am not willing to find out regarding my family members. SoโฆI find myself using it sparingly when others arenโt in the house. Iโm not sure I will order again. Unfortunate because otherwise it would absolutely become a stapleโฆbut Iโm guessing that whatever makes it effective is also what causes the questionable smell/reaction.

This sprays from a nozzle, not a spray head, and you are to apply it in sections after all product is on your head, so for me, this takes a long time to try to apply correctly, which takes away from the “faster” drying time later. It normally takes 21-25 minutes to dry my hair. This product seems to shave 4-6 minutes off that time, which is significant, but application process/time sort of detracts from that.

I was a bit skeptical at first about using it but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it does work! It doesnโt dry your hair completely but it does make the drying time faster. Think of it like a dry shampoo spray, sort of. Itโll almost feel powdery but not in a bad way. Itโs really hard to explain until you use it. It didnโt affect the pattern of my curls or anything.

I absolutely love the way this smells! Iโm a huge fan of DevaCurl products, which is hilarious because my hair is straight and fine. I first started using their clarifying shampoo and no-suds shampoo a year ago and fell in love with how soft they made my hair. This product is pretty awesome because it cuts air dry time by a lot! Iโve been trying to air dry more this summer, and this seems to dry it faster without adding frizzies. I swear it makes my hair shinier, too. This would totally work on thick, curly hair!

This stuff is kinda dangerous if not used right. It seems like it liquid nitrogen in a can it gets the hair freezing cold and if your hair is wet it could freeze and literally break off
