I just set my LabelWriter 330 up and I have already found it a great item to help prepare labels. I was a bit nervous about ordering one after reading some comments about how it had problems with Windows XP using a USB cable. However, I saw positive write up also so I ordered one. The instructions are very clear about the proper sequence to set it up with Win XP using a USB cable. I had no problem with it and I suspect those who had problems did not follow the proper sequence. I did not try the other option for a connection (serial cable).
I ordered some additional rolls of label’s (not cheap) but the unit came with one package of DYMO #30252 shipping labels.
I am very please with the unit. Now if I can just find some time to get my files organized with new labels

I’m using this Dymo Labelwriter in a professional environment to print labels for a color dispensing system. Since the various locations, which use them, are spread all over the US reliability is extremely important to me. So far I have not experienced any problems. The printer works great with Microsoft Access applications and the print quality is superb.
I probably wouldn’t recommend it as a gadget for home use (I couldn’t see a need for it), but for professional use this is a great printer.

This printer replaced an old Seiko Instruments label printer that had pretty much died of old age. I opted for the non-Turbo model as speed wasn’t a necessity for me, plus it saved a few bucks. Within 15 min. I had it hooked up, software installed, and printing. The print quality excellent. Software installation was painless (Win98SE and XP Pro), as is changing the labels when switching between the various sizes this printer is capable of handling. I installed via the serial port since I didn’t have a vacant USB port. The package includes everything you’ll need to get started, including both a USB and serial cable, and a sample package of large labels.
I found a couple of bonus features that prove to be useful. First- you can share this printer over a network simply by configuration and installing the software on the other computers. Second- there is an additional piece of software titled “Address Fixer” that will correctly format any US address to USPS standards (including the Zip+4 zip code) via your Internet connection.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my LabelWriter 330 and would recommend it to others shopping for this type of product.

I bought a Dymo330. As an owner of an iMACDV, I use a USB Hub. This printer, I learn quickly, cannot be plugged into the Hub and be recognized by the computer. The printer will not print when requested to do it.
I bought two new, different brands of hubs, at other’s direction. All failed. Foolish me.
When I direct connect the printer to my Computer’s USB port, it works. Then I remove it, insert it back into the Hub, and insert the hub’s connector back into the computer. The printer continues to accept print commands and will print
labels! But there remains a surprise.
The iMACDV will not reboot. Only by removing the printer from the hub will booting be restored. Just ducky.
After all of this, how could I ever consider buying one of these?

Revision 2 of the review below: I have two of these, one at home and one at work, and both have now died of power supply failures. Dymo price for out-of-warranty repair is $75 each — a sizeable chunk of the purchase price. I hate to be without them, but I’m looking seriously at replacing them with another brand (Seiko?).

This is a revision (2003) of the review below. Dymo is now shipping a revised application and drivers for OS X, and they are _much_ better than the old application. The software stopped working when I upgraded to Panther, but then another revision took care of that a few weeks later. My only remaining complaint is that Dymo is not good about communicating to users about what software is available and forthcoming (their web site is really a disaster), but the device itself and current software is quite nice.

I loved my old costar labelwriter (used with serial connection on a mac running OS 9) and bought the newer dymo labelwriter 330 in addition to go with a newer Mac with USB connection. At first the software was just klunky with OS X, running in classic mode only, and frequently working only after reboot. Then, when I upgraded to OS X 10.2.3, the labelwriter stopped working entirely. The drivers for third-party applications under OS X also don’t seem to work at all (I can eject a blank label, but that’s it). Dymo has been promising new OS X software for months, but meanwhile I’ve got a boat anchor.
I really want to like this gadget … I had grown to depend on it … but Mac users should not buy it unless and until there is a good, native OS X application for label printing.
