I thought I’d reviewed this with my original purchase, but it seems I didn’t. Since I’ve now rebought this, obviously I like it! I want to make one thing clear – I didn’t rebuy it through any fault of the device, my cat broke it. He breaks lots of things. The mic itself works beautifully and has great sound for its price point. The only downside (which is also a plus) is the software. Without the Wave Link software, it can be a bit unpredictable at times. The Wave Link software itself works beautifully though, if requiring a bit of finicking to get it working the way you want.

Picked this mic up for podcasting and some online gaming/role play stuff, as well as for recording vocals for music. Before buying this mic I was using a mid range XLR condenser into a Scarlet Solo USB interface, but was having issues with latency when monitoring my voice in real time, which is pretty important in the types of games I’m using this for (Role play servers like Ignite and WildRP etc). The Elgato Wave:3 has a headphone jack for direct monitoring of the mic in your mix and as soon as I plugged it in and made some adjustments it worked perfectly. Sound quality is pretty decent, maybe a 8/10, build quality, also decent, it’s body is plastic with some aluminum… but it feels solid. The controls built into the mic are helpful, and the Wave:3 software has worked well! It attached to my boom stand without issue and it’s small enough to stay out of the way. I also picked up the Elgato pop filter and shock mount, I’ve reviewed those separately. Glad I picked this mic up, it’s doing exactly what I needed it to do and it sounds good doing it!

I got a product with damaged packaging, strange dots on the mic, and black powder inside the box. Seems like it was used before.

This microphone is really easy to use and the sound quality stands head and shoulders above others I’ve tried, and it’s easy to filter background sounds out using free software. The built-in mute switch and volume knob really help and the larger kit version was really handy to set up on a desk, with a large opening clamp. The black or white options also help fit the aesthetic quite well, but they’re the same underneath with some discounts to be found on Amazon when I’ve looked.

The value in this microphone has more to do with the amazing software rather than the quality of the microphone. Don’t get me wrong, the microphone is really good. But the software is what makes this product really great.
This software replaces your external hardware mixer with a software version that can selectively grab sound output from specific programs like Chrome/Brave/Firefox while filtering out other sound sources like your instant messenger on your computer so they don’t get recorded to the stream.
The one caveat here is that on macOS the default settings had the microphone giving a ~40ms delay in the voice due to software loop back. However, the software loop back can be disabled and instead a zero-time loopback can be activated very easily by disabling software monitoring. On Windows 10 this is already the default. But on MacOS it is not. However this little hiccup is not severe enough to remove a star. It’s just something took me about 15 mins to figure out.
Now that the whole thing is setup correctly I can jump on a stream very easily. The microphone also features an audio out which allows me to attach super sleek black ear bud phones, which are normally have too short of a cable to be able to reach my main computer, but reach the microphone perfectly with slack.
Also, this microphone has CLIP GUARD which will prevent you from clipping the audio when you get too close to it. This is one of the best features and I was using all kinds of hardware solutions to get this feature, including getting the AudioVox 286s that did this as one of it’s features. However, after getting this microphone I ditched the AudioVox product.
Finally I want to add that so much hardware was elimiated by using this product. My studio is now way cleaner and the ability to jump on a stream immediatly without messing with settings is the best part of this entire solution. This product could be sold for more money and I would toss it at them. Very sad I didn’t discover this product a year ago. So many wasted hours and returned products trying to emulate what this product does out of the box.

This usb microphone came highly recommended from the streaming community and from many of my gaming friends online. And let me say, the recommendations were all correct.
First, and arguably most important, the mic is VERY much worth the price in it’s own right. As a usb condencer, it’s not going to be the best quality, but for the price it sounds awesome right out of the box. Simple physical setup, just plug in the usb cord, and away you go. After some tuning in OBS, this thing is smoooooth.
The real value, and pain, is in the wave software. I unfortunately found an audio bug when first installing and had to reinstall the software to get a perminent loop out of the feed. Once working correctly, I needed to go through at least a couple hours of setup to sort all my sound outputs (games, music, browser, discord, etc) and configure OBS. I’m pretty technical myself, so when I say it took awhile to wrap my head around the process… Yeah… But! The end product is totally worth it, as I have much better control over sound vs the alternatives and the recordings sound awesome!
As a tip: I did opt to split the direct mic feed from the stream within OBS. I have Mic1 as my actual wave 3 mic and Mic2 as the wave stream. This allowed me to do some fine turning within OBS on my voice without influencing game sound. Again, more setup, more time, more Alpha Gaming youtube videos to watch.
Overall, I’ve invested 3-4 solid hours into just initial setup and getting familiar with the basics of this mic. I will probably spend more time messing around and tweaking options. That being said, I am very happy with the product and look forward to improvements on the software side. The software actually makes it easier in the long run, so the initial investment in time is 100% worth the effort.
Also, get a mic boom arm. This microphone loves being close close close to your face.

This is a good mic for zoom and teams.
Nice that all controls are available without software. Good headphone volume and low latency. Works with or without Elgato software.
Very sensitive. Like the touch to mute on top of mic.

While USB mics will never beat XLR microphones, this one definitely bridges the quality gap. Very good audio quality and with the WaveLink App, It is very easy to adjust. While It will not be a replacement for the quality of XLR, It definitely will work for those who aren’t as experienced with Audio.

Very easy and does the audio clarity for you. All you need is the volumed.

This is an old model and cheap but the quality is amazing. I live in the Philippines and there is an air conditioner right above my head but the noise is completely blocked by the software. The mic is great value by itself but with the free and super easy to use software it’s an outstanding value. You will not be disappointed.
