So it’s my first time trying out elixir.
I’ll try normal one later if I get a chance, but my first elixir is Phosphor Bronze set.
Issues:
My fourth string snapped at the neck region making me not able to string it.
The buyer was super awesome enough to send me an another set (the buyer I believe is russomusic)
So that is the not issue really (but maybe strings are easily snapped for this specific set?)
I am not a huge fan of this phophor bronze sound.
Normal elixir might sound different but this set, I am not a big fan of.
I really liked my old Martin string that was fairly old. (I usually don’t switch out my strings unless they get snap).
Not very acousticy….it’s too metallic for me..
So beware of those people who really like acoustic sound of some strings like Martin’s.
Good:
Strings feel good underneath your finger.
Nanoweb definitely makes the difference (note to self: try normal nanoweb as opposed to phosphor bronze one)..
As everyone probably knows, these strings will last long (I haven’t tested this one myself yet; but it’s proven point by many players out there)
Will continue to look nice and not rusty after long use.
Overall:
I’m sure that longevity of elixir strings is the selling point..
I have to try out the other set but phosphor bronze set sounds bit odd to me after using Martin all the time…
Maybe I have to get used to it, but I really liked the acoustic sound that my old Martin strings gave out..

I don’t play as often as I used too so it was hard for me to justify the price. But with long stretches in between session I eventually caved. And they were so worth it. They’re still going strong months after. The Sound, durability all of it is worth it. I’m sure even for the daily player the price is worth it.

Great guitar strings. Will buy again!

great strings, wow!

After years of playing cheap acoustic guitars with inexpensive strings, I took a leap of faith and invested nearly 3 grand in a Taylor 618e, the newly redesigned maple 600 series. Aside from price, that Taylor’s tone with the new bracing is a total game changer. Well, Taylor ships with these exact Elixirs installed, and because I got the huge Grand Orchestra, the gauge required is .13-.056, thickest gauge I’ve ever used. The tone of these strings on that guitar is simply infectious, but the thing that’s amazing me is that after almost two months of playing this guitar every single day, the strings still sound clean! Whatever that Nanoweb coating is, it works. I do hear the bass strings starting to sound a little odd, especially when using a capo (I’m currently torturing myself learning a couple Tommy Emmanuel songs which require a capo), so I can tell that it’s getting near the time to change. For these to still sound this good after almost two months (often sweating a little, we live in Pheonix, lol) is pretty impressive. I purchased two more sets when I got the Taylor in April because I liked the tone, and now I have the added surprise bonus of probably double the expected life. So while they may cost twice as much, they last twice as long, and I could probably stretch it further but I’m yearnong for that new string sound. I have heard that John Pearse strings are best in class sound wise and I will try them one day, but let’s face it, we’re all busy, so if i can change my strings only 5-6 times a year, the cost is a no-brainer. Maybe Elixirs are not the best sounding string (still better than anything I’ve ever used) but they are quite good and I’m not scheduled for any recording sessions right now (or ever, lol) so I’ll take the long-lasting string any day.

These strings maintain a great sound for a very, very long time. I’ve been using them for many years and will never switch to anything else.

Here’s how the strings sound. This may be one of the best strings I’ve used in my life. I play a percussive style like Marcin, so the thickness of the strings makes the sound more complete and loud. I actually brought some friends over after I brought the strings, and they complimented the sound. All the other strings I’ve used during my years of guitar playing were just cheap $4 or $5 strings. After using Elixir once, I don’t find myself using any other strings than this. Also, I have had these strings on for about 4 months now and there is little to no sign of rusting. This is really amazing because all the previous cheap strings I’ve used usually rust in about 1-2 weeks. I’d definitely recommend buying this. Since the thick strings make the playing a bit difficult, I’d recommend you buy the lower gauges if you’re a beginner because they are lighter and still sound the same as this one.

Of the major brand it there, Elixir strings are me favorite for tone and clarity.

I know what you’re thinking – “these are expensive strings”. But guess what: these Elixers stay bright twice as long as those $9 strings, and sound better, play easier.
I’m a monthly gig country / oldies player.

Dudé en hacer la compra por que miré que había mucha piratería pero por lo menos con este vendedor me llegaron las originales! Es un sonido exquisito y le quedaron excelente a mi guitarra Martin!

Si ninguna queja, un gran sonido.

These are the absolute best guitar strings I’ve ever used.. I have been using them for years.. they sound great and are easy on the fingers and sound like new strings much longer than any other brand I have used. Recomment for beginners because the coating helps with the lack of callouses on your fingertips
