Energizer LED Headlamp, Bright & Durable For Outdoors

I bought two of the HD+ versions to use for night fishing/crabbing from a boat. My main usage for these was just to prodive working light (move around the boat, bait lines, etc). For this purpose they worked great. The lighting was perfectly adequate and lasted the entire night on the highest setting (8 hours). I did notice that the light appeared to dim a little bit later in the night but for the purposes mentioned above it did not affect it’s usefulness.

The 200 lumens was not enough to illuminate the bottom of the river to find crabs, nor was it bright enough to light up distant objects such as river banks, buoys, or nautical markers. But I bought these knowing that ahead of time, so it was not a negative for me.

The only downside that I can think of is the mechanism for changing the angle. To increase the angle with one hand it feels as if you will break it. I found that if you lift the small tab that is providing the resistance with one hand (in the middle of the hinge, and yes it is difficult) and with the other hand angle it as necessary that it is much easier to manipulate and it does not feel like it will break off. Unfortunately this means it is almost impossible to do while it is still on your head. Fortunately, it is not necessary to do this when returning to the straight forward position as it moves fairly easily in that direction (but it does stay in place).

For the price it is a solid buy and it appears it will last a while (with the suggestions above).

Easy to remove elastic headband can be washed between uses.

If you are an outdoor runner that runs at night you most likely have a kit of different headlamps and beacon lamps. This light should go in your kit.

I use this to light the ground right in front on me during night runs and trail runs. Provides just a minimum amount of light for this task.

This is a lightweight headlamp and so will stay put if adjusted properly for your entire run. I have used much better headlamps with much better focus of beams from Coleman and other brands however the weight of those made the lamp want to fall down in my eyes unless the band was tightened to an uncomfortable amount.

However I want to maintain my natural night vision and do not want a brighter light than this although many runners May.

For some odd reason the lens captures light and points it directly down. If you have glasses or if you are running in the cold where your exhaust breath is visible you will want to cover the bottom portion of the lens that forces light down with black tape or by other covering method. Not doing so will result in a bright light being cast on your breath or lens of your glasses. This design failure is present on all of the Energizer had two lamps that I have tried.

This thing is super reliable and so helpful with projects. It has plenty of brightness and the battery consumption is efficient.

This is indeed an amazing light piece of gadget, very tiny, but packs an incredible performance in the illumination department. I watched the review on YouTube before purchasing the product. It has 4 modes at clicks on the main switch. Moreover, the central LED is large and extremely powerful with long distance focused illumination (200 lumens). In a mode, long press can either dim the configuration or brighten it. All this works with just 3 AAA Alkaline batteries. Only take care while prying open the head strap holder while changing the batteries as it opens with much difficulty as the click locking hinge mechanism is very hard and could break. Must own torch for those who venture out in the darkness of night for any reason as it frees the hands for carrying stuff.

Headlamps are a necessity on Hawai’i Island at night time, plus a headlamp is handy to have, generally speaking. So far this one is performing as I expected, bright light and easy to use, which is great. I also have a 10 year old Energizer that still works great after much use AND after spending 12 nighttime hours in an ice cold raging creek in Northern California shining bright through the entire submersion and still works to this day, so if this one performs as well as that one, then excellent! Time will tell. I’ve tried other brands of headlamps between these two and none of them performed well or lasted long. This headlamp is well worth the price it cost.
