I purchased this printer about a week ago from Wal-Mart for $49. Although I have a very nice Epson printer/scanner, I don’t have a fax and thought that would be a nice feature. I wasn’t really expecting much considering the price. The scanner works great and at the same speed that my nicer Epson works. I haven’t had the need to utilize the fax. As far as the actual printing process…
PROS:
*Comes with ink
*Attractive body
*Quality prints – documents (haven’t used it for any photo or picture printing yet)
CONS:
*Excruciatingly slow. I mean HUGELY slow. I am pretty sure the old school word processor printer we had when I was a kid, the one that had to go over each line 2+ times printed faster than this. When reviewers are saying it is slow, they aren’t kidding – you will notice a significant difference in speed from what you are probably used to.
*Doesn’t come with its own USB connection so make sure to add the cost of that when you’re looking at the overall price.
NEUTRAL:
*Sound – I wouldn’t by any means claim that this printer is whisper quiet, but the noise it produces hasn’t been something I’ve really noticed as exceptionally loud or annoying (as other reviewers have commented). I have 4 little kids though so I’m accustomed to an overall noisy environment and may just not notice it as much as someone else.
OVERALL:
In my opinion, just getting the fax option and the ink made it worth it. Buying ink refills for my other Epson would have cost me at least half the price of what I paid to get this whole package. It doesn’t have any of the cool photo features my other Epson has, so I wouldn’t recommend it if your primary interest is printing photos but for just regular printing of school assignments, forms, etc. it is a great, inexpensive choice.

The printer goes through ink like crazy and the ink refills are outrageously priced. It won’t let you print black and white when a color cartridge gets low. I have to clean the head’s frequently or the printing is spotty.

This printer was exactly what I was looking for. I actually was replacing another printer like this one so I already new about the features, which are great. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t open so you can remove paper jams.

The other reviews are correct about the level of noise and speed however if those qualities are low on your list then this printer is a great buy.
I purchased it for the purpose of printing school work and scanning film pictures. The resolution is just of good quality and my school prints perfect. The copy function has turned into a great accent that I had not forseen. It helped to isolate book pages from several books to assist me in studying for a test. The fax function will not be used. It was extremely easy to use and set up. The instructions were intuitive. It works just fine with my Apple laptop.
This printer is very noisy and is incrediably slow, however for the price, I was willing to accept those negative qualities. If you are looking for fast and quiet for a small business, this is not your printer.
For home or school projects I totally recommend this printer.
