This book is for photographers to quickly use the tools that Affinity supplies in order to produce the best version of their photos. It is not a complete manual of all that is offered, only direction in order to do what photographers actually need. In addition the author has a web site and Youtube videos available to assist photographers put their best efforts forward.

Even if you have used other photo editing programs Affinity Pro is different enough that it is worthwhile to go through some exercises to learn how to use the tools. This is a good start on that process. However, I did run into some lessons where things did not go quite the same as the book. Even though this is an updated version, I think that there are a few changes from version one that slipped through the cracks.

After almost 30 years using Photoshop, I reluctantly switched to Affinity Photo 2 because I don’t want to be bound to a subscription. Affinity was described as the program most like Photoshop, so I chose it. While it is very similar, there are noticeable differences and having a guide like this will get you off on the right foot. Robin Whalley has laid the book out carefully and I benefited greatly by following his exercises step by step. His explanations are so good I learned about tools that are also in Photoshop that I never understood how to use completely. A very valuable learning experience.

Robin Whaley does an excellent job and does explain the essential things you need to know about Affinity Photo version two. I had to go through the book twice to pick up some of the finer points, and it is difficult to remember all the nuances. tThe book is a good value for what it cost and does its job. Thanks, Robin.

Just done the first two chapters with the worked examples. A well written guide at each step so that at the end, what I had produced matched what the book said I should have! In essence, this is testament to the quality of the written explanations in the examples. A great guide, and well worth the money, as trying to use Affinity2 without this book would be a big no-no. Would highly recommend.
