Diane –
I purchased a copy of this guidebook as a gift for my daughter who is a special education teacher. After reading it myself, I think all special educators, child psychologists, and parents of children who are challenged to succeed in school should have this publication as an executive function guidebook. It should also be a required resource in teacher preparation programs so higher education students entering the teaching or child psychology fields will better understand what executive function means and the challenges students face in school related to thinking and organizational skills, metacognition, and attention. In addition, the authors present invaluable examples of instructional strategies for goal-setting, data collecting and creating plans for academic and social success at specific competency and age/grade levels. I wish I had this resource for my students when teaching in special education teacher preparation programs!

This book provides excellent, detailed information for people working with children who have difficulty planning and executing their school work. (executive function) It is a valuable resource for teachers, and although there is probably more detail than a parent needs, it provides valuable information. I would love to have a book by these authors written for parents.

I returned it because it did not provide any useful information. It also is not written for those with executive functioning weaknesses.

This is an incredible resource for educators, parents, and specialty clinicians. As a diagnostic audiologist, I am always searching for resources to provide for parents who note that their children have auditory processing concerns. The Executive Function Guidebook provides a wealth of knowledge for working memory (verbal and non-verbal), self-regulation, and sequential organization strategies that can be generalized from classroom, occupational, and behavioral/social settings, providing the utmost potential for success. One of my favorite “go-to” resources for interesting and exciting strategies that can be adapted for patients of ALL ages!

If you need a well-written resource to add to your personal or professional library, this is it! I have a personal copy for myself, but also bought several copies for my administrators and our school library. It is written by two ladies who have tons of experience both inside the schools and as professors, but it includes strategies from real teachers at all levels (elementary, middle, high). Highly recommend.

This is a great and useful guide that will help anyone with their studies. It is a wonderful tool for both teachers and students to have. I enjoyed using the free online resources to expand my understanding on these topics.

I was very excited about this book but the bottom of the spin is crushed and the pages have weird flexs of stray ink on them. Its not enough to make me want to return it but still disappointed. The content looks good from the few pages i have skimmed.
