My 18 inch baby Ball Python fits nicely in the medium cave. She has two medium caves, one on the heated side and one on the cool side. She has enough room inside to curl up and disappear completely from sight. She also enjoys basking on top of it, or wedging herself between the back of the cave and the heated glass on the side. She uses the hide on the cool side of her cage to poo in, but it’s easy to clean with soap and water and/or 5% bleach solution.
My baby Corn Snake loves hers so much, I haven’t seen her in days. She stopped using her tree trunk hide, and only uses this one now. She is about 10 inches long and as think as my finger, so she’ll be using this medium size hide for a long time.

I got 2 of these hesitantly after the reviews about bad packing. Mine came in tombs of bubble wrap. They are in great condition and look great in the tank. Our snakes are going to be very happy with them. The surface is easy to clean and they design allows a nice cave for humidity without the moss drying out too quickly. They do have two very small holes in the top (guessing vent holes or from injection). They are not visible without really looking and I like that they are there for a minor amount of air flow.
UPDATE 10-18-2012:
I just got an order of 5 more in. These were not packed the same as before and two of the five were broken. I guess it depends on the seller. They did do what was necessary to make it right though. I’m not happy about it but I am thankful that E6000 can fix them.

Got this for my cornsnake. he didnt use it at first but as he gets a little bigger he gets more comfortable with it! The material is thin but durable and easy to clean. The colour in the listing made me hesitate buying it but the one i got was a nicer shade of brown, more reddish than in the listing!

Great hide. I have a 1200g, 3ft ball python, and the Extra Large fits him perfectly. I wasn’t sure he’d fit in it, but its snug with enough room for him to shift around and get settled inside (I’d say it would maybe fit up to a 1800-2000g snake, though that would depend on the girth). He stays in it much more than he did in the old hide I had for him. Ordered another for the other side of his enclosure. It’s decently heavy, so it stays put as he moves around inside (it’s in cypress mulch, it would probably shift a bit if it were on paper towels). And I like the natural look.
The only thing to watch out for is sharp edges. Nothing major, but I did take a nail file to a few rough spots before I put it in for him to use. The material is easy enough to touch up with a disposable nail file. But I definitely would just run your fingers around the edges, the opening, and also the inside surface – found a few sharp places from when it was molded that took 30 seconds to smooth out.

When they say larger, they mean it! This thing is huge! I was very pleasantly surprised by that, but be careful if you have limited tank space. I’m using this for my leopard gecko tank, and it would easily fit an adult gecko. This would also be good for young beardies, other leopard gecko-sized geckos, small snakes like corn and king snakes, etc. The cave itself is super sturdy, and–with the addition of some moss or damp paper towels–would be perfect for a humid hide (which is what I’ll be using it for).

I have three snakes of all varying sizes…
Male ball python 4-5′ long, girth slightly larger than a golf ball
Female ball python 4-5′ long, girth slightly larger than a baseball
Female carpet python 8′ long, girth larger than a baseball.
I assumed right out of the gate none of these would fit the carpet python but I ordered two of the large and two of the extra large with the intent of giving them to the ball pythons. Well the large was literally just barely big enough for the male BP to fit in. And when I say barely, I mean it. I don’t think he could even turn around in it, and it would lift slightly with him in it. The same was pretty much true for the female BP and the extra large. So I ended up giving the extra large to the male and I’m returning the large.
You can tell by the picture that the height is not uniform. Well the dimension they give you for the height is only true FOR THE TALLEST POINT. So when they say it’s 3″ tall, the majority of the hide is more like 2″ tall. It’s true snakes like tight spaces but too tight is just as bad as too big. And keep in mind they do swell somewhat after feeding.
Also worth noting, of the four I ordered one did come damaged. One of the extra larges had a crack in it but I was able to super glue it closed. Also one of the larges had a VERY sharp point on the inside from when it was cast. I was able to cut it off and dull the area but just wanted to warn people so they know to give them a look before you throw them in with your pet.

Hela innanmätet är fyllt med sylvassa kanter som sticker ner som rakblad. Tvungen att slipa ner allt och mÃ¥la om invändigt, uselt när man köper en färdig grotta. Öppningen är inte helt gjuten/söndersprucken sÃ¥ behövs fyllas ut och limmas igen. Exo Terra lägger sÃ¥n tid pÃ¥ detaljer och färg utvändigt och struntar helt i det viktigaste – en för djuren säker insida pÃ¥ grottan. Sämst kvalitet.

I bought this cave as a hide for my ball python. His old one broke and I was tired of using shoe boxes. I ordered it on a Friday and it came on Monday! I even used the free standard shipping. Anyway I was definiently impressed by the shipping. The product arrived unbroken the packaging was great so, I think there is little risk of it breaking. I was scared of some of the reveiws saying it was super thin but mine is super thick with no rough edges. I do wish it was a little bigger as my ball python will most likely outgrow it in the next year but that’s my fault for not reading the dimensions.(I ordered a large) It is also not exactly as pictured it is the new Exo Tera version which in my opinon is more realistic looking so I didn’t have a problem with it.It is pretty much the same look and texture and everything. The dimensions are basically the same also. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.
