I’m so happy with my purchase! This bass is everything I hoped it would be and more. I have owned basses in the past that were almost double in price than this one and I must say, this bass is by far my favorite and feels the best. The neck is smooth and slim but not too slim like the 70s version. The pickups sound fantastic and I doubt I will change them. Do yourself a favor and get this bass!
Note: I had to put quite a bit of time to get it set up properly though. It came to me with the neck extremely bowed and the string height was way off. Even if you can’t set it up yourself it’s still worth the money to buy it and get it set up from a tech.

I was impressed by the setup out of the box. I have had other classic vibe series and they always impress. I’ve had this bass for about a week and I’m loving it. No finish or quality control issues.
Jedi mind muscle –
no buzzing, good tone, nice to play, well worth the money

What I like about this bass:
1.) Quick fast delivery and packed well.
2.) I swapped out the strings for flatwounds, and it sounded authentic and balanced right out the box
3.) That authentic Fender P sound.
4.) Vintage looks were appealing, and the instrument felt good in my hands. The neck was an improvement over what I felt was the baseball bat version of the Fender P’s I had played early in my career
5.) Swapped out the Squire Pickups for Bartolini’s…and woomp, there it is. Tone for days.. Although I must admit the stock pickups were fine too.
6.) If you are a beginer, you can’t go wrong with this bass. As an experienced musician, I find them wonderful and at that sweet spot price point. They are worth a lot more.
Dislikes:
1.) Not many. I notice the frets could be a little more smoother on the edges.. If I was someone to do frequent slides.. it would sting a bit.. But thats minor for me.
2.) Really, I don’t have anything I can say I dislike about this. Squire has come a long way! The vintage series both Chinese and Indonesian are great instruments. I have four between the two series, and perhaps at some point I might get the 50’s P bass Squire..

Great choice for a budget bass. Beautifully crafted, if you’re a fan of the design of the Fender Jazz basses then this bass absolutely does the job so you don’t have to shell out £1000s. If I had the money I absolutely would, but given my budget this was a great choice. The strings buzz a little and distort the sound at first but once you mess around with it and play it for an hour or so it goes away and it delivers a beautiful, crisp tone. The highs are clear and distinct and the lows are buttery, absolutely no muddiness like my last bass. The delivery was quick, no issues there. All in all, if this bass is in your price range, I highly recommend it.

I was sent a used model from 2021 with a bowed neck and horrible string buzz on E string.
There was a also a HUGE fender circular sticker plastered on front that was/is impossible to taked off.
It stripped the plastic pick guard shield.
There was no one from Fender to help. Same company that renigged on model i bought a year earlier and the never delivered it or responded.

Update: dropped a star because, realistically, it’s not perfect. Rather than enumerate every little flaw, I’ll just say no dealbreakers and even though it’s not perfect, I’d still buy another Classic Vibe – especially on sale. Just budget for some tech work if you want it flawless. Happy instrument shopping.
Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass in Daphne Blue from Amazon Warehouse used.
Immediately impressed. Neck is a little heavy but doesn’t dive. Visual inspection revealed almost no blemishes save for a few nicks on the pickguard. The initial setup was fine but the neck needed just a quarter turn more relief to get .012″ at the 7th fret. Action was pretty good but I tweaked it a touch. Intonation wasn’t bad either but the low E string has a lump in it so that might affect the intonation a little. Pickups need to come down a touch because thumping the strings with any force will create a ‘tick’ sound but moderate to light playing gives no problem. I almost forgot but the volume and tone pots seemed like they didn’t work at first but after twisting them a little bit now they’re fine. Good resistance and everything. It’s almost like the person who returned it didn’t play it much at all. Frets have some tiny scratches here and there but nothing terrible.
I’ve only had it for a few hours but I like it and will probably keep it. For reference, I’ve been playing music for just over 30 years but don’t buy instruments regularly and only recently started playing more bass. The last guitar I bought was an Ibanez RG7321 hardtail seven string used from a dude on Craigslist for the same price I paid for this bass. There are minor fret edge sharpies but nothing a little attention or play time can’t fix.
Like you, I’ve heard about these new Squiers and how they’re not like they used to be back in the 90s. The hype is real – it’s a solid instrument (especially) for beginners or someone who wants to add a particular style instrument to their collection without going up the food chain. Honestly it’s a good bass.
Amazon, take down that review video that’s on this page. The reviewer said this is a short scale bass with 22 frets. It’s not: it’s a long scale 34″ bass with 20 frets.

The classic vibes line from fender have not disappointed me at all. Another fine addition to my collection. Shipping was super fast with prime ordered it Friday and had it my hands Sunday.

I’m a beginner bassist/guitar player and this instrument is my very first bass. I think that it is a great instrument for me to learn and progress with.
Dwayne Barbee –
Finish is perfect, no blemishes at all. The guitar needed a setup but should be expected when it hasn’t been handled by a music store. Neck relief was off but adjusted easily. The intonation wasn’t set but no issues fixing that. If you don’t know how to do a set up, no time like the present. All steps can be learned via YouTube. Pickups are tolerable, but will be replaced. Frets are 4.5/5 on how they are dressed. If you want a good starter bass, you can’t go wrong with this one!
