Along with the GK Ultraphones this is just what the Drum Doctor ordered ! It turns the iPhone into I raging powerful receiver! Crystal Clear oomph to boot and an amazing sound quality that surpasses the small investment! I’m not kidding about this! I’m blown away! It comes charged up so open with care and plug it in to your phone then plug the end of your favorite headphones (if you are a drummer and don’t have the GK Ultraphones, stop what you’re doing and order a set) and no looking back! Just play along with your favorite music and tune out the rest of the world for a while! There’s no better combo at this investment level on the planet! 🎩

i was looking for a nice portable DAC but settled on this inexpensive one. I have the Android USBc version. It came with a mostly chinese manual. No installation necessary. Just plugged it into my google pixel and plugged my cans in. Way better sound than the cheap headphone USB-c dongles I’ve been using. Another upside is the fact that there is way more volume now. I used to listen to the loud stuff maxed out and with ear fatigue wished I had a little bit more. I now put the volume well below max with this dongle. I mean, for 50 bucks it did what I wanted.

I can’t speak for the long term reliability of this yet. I see some reviews where the connection isn’t solid. I will modify my review if this thing breaks down earlier than I think it should.

Not gonna lie I kinda hate this thing. Yes it makes the sound better on my trucks stereo compared to the default aux but there’s one major flaw. The cable is about the thinnest and cheapest feeling cable I’ve ever had on a device. This leads to it “disconnecting” every time I hit a bump on the road. Extremely annoying as it stops my music and I have to try to get it playing again while driving. I just stopped using it. I don’t recommend you buy this product. My 5 dollar monoprice cable makes this thing a joke.

As a musician, I often need to play recorded material into the mix. The easiest way to do that is by plugging the phone into one of the stereo channels on my mixer. Sadly, phones don’t have 3.5mm audio jacks anymore, so like most people, I was using a cheap USB dongle. It worked. More, I cannot say.

I finally got sick of the crappy sound and decided to find something that would be better. In the world of the audiofile, spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars is typical for a good audio interface. I wasn’t prepared to do that for this application.

Enter Fiio. I have used Fiio products in the past and they’ve always delivered great bang for the buck. The KA1 is no exception! The high end is far more distinct than the cheap dongles, and the sound stage is noticeably larger. Finally, the bass is very natural and well-defined without being boomy.

The build quality seems very good. The cable looks to use good materials and the casing on the body is aluminum, not cheap plastic. While this device basically sits on my desk, it is very small and portable if you have a pair of wired headphones you want to use on the go. This will sound much better than what’s built into your phone.

Build quality is excellent and sound quality is fantastic when playing back in high-resolution. However when playing back at low resolution it does not sound very good, very mid heavy and much worse than the standard Apple adapter. Since I typically use Spotify for playback this is a major con. They also struggle a little bit with driving higher power devices when plugged into my iPhone compared to the normal Apple adapter. For now I keep them plugged into my desktop using the included lightning to usb adapter and it sounds great but it is pretty disappointing that for my use case they aren’t an improvement.

Edit: I got a 1 month trial of Apple Music, absolutely insane audio quality for device of its size when using high-res playback on Apple devices. Well worth $50, however the original review still stands, but wow does it sound incredibly good when used to its full potential. I think Spotify might have something to do with the lackluster sound quality too since Apple music sounds fantastic in comparison (maybe I should fully switch over? lol)

Great product, as an audio producer and musician I can confirm that this thing really delivers the quality it offers. Definitely worth every dollar. I use it with my S23U and I can really say that I feel either on my studio or hearing the band live (If the audio is live of course).

The only bad thing is that the chord feels like its going to break, but no problem with durability at the moment.

as the title says, it works pretty well if you dont use the app
if you use the app, you get control, for what of 3 seconds, then it just stops outputting audio altogether, deleting the app will let it work again

The description says “3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced, 2 headphone outputs”, which isn’t true. It’s a single 3.5mm output only, which is exactly what I wanted in my case. This means the unit is small – tiny, in fact. The materials feel nice in the hand – no plasticy garbage here – and the boost in volume is impressive. Sounds quality is much improved, with more detail at much lower volume settings

    Worth the money (and more)

Just received this yesterday. I purchased it solely for mobile, as I use wired headphones. Now for context I have Audio-Technica ATH-M50x wired headphones, and if you are going to spend $50 on a mobile amp then you’ll want to spend money on a decent pair of headphones first. Don’t expect much if you’re using a $20 pair of earbuds. The entire reason I was looking for an amp rather than a cheap USB to Aux converter is because I wanted to ensure I get the most out of my headphones.

That said, this was worth the money. This little amp plugged into my s24 Ultra was like an aerial assault on my ears. Bass was great, audio was very clear (using Tidal app), and volume at max left my ears ringing after an hour of listening (probably not smart, but I wanted to really test this thing). Worth every penny.

I did test using it on my Macbook Pro (M2 chip), and it literally made no difference that I could observe compared to the integrated aux port. So if you’re trying to amplify your computer, then I cannot report on any success there. But if you, like me, bemoan the fact that smartphones did-away with the aux port, and you own a decent pair of headphones, then this is worth the cost.
