I bought this printer as a 3D printing newbie hoping for something that’s both a good entry level printer and has good performance for small-ish electro-mechanical projects. I think I found it.

    What I like –

    – It’s a refined, finished product. Most 3D printers seem to have a lot of tweakiness about them. I’m using the slicing software Flashforge provides and the preset slicing setups and all have given pretty decent first quality prints
    – A plate that seems to stick down PLA and PETG prints pretty well
    – Related to the first point, the software is easy to use, the printer is easy to set up, and the touchscreen utilities easy to use
    – Wifi downloading of files – no USB drive
    – The extruder moves in both X and Y directions, and the table in the Z direction. Some printers shift the work left and right. This seems more stable and repeatable
    – Built in leveling and vibration correction algorithms
    – Ability to upgrade this to an enclosed printer using an acrylic kit and print-it-yourself brackets
    – Excellent tech support. Unfortunately my printer failed within the first few weeks – one of the sensors that determines the x-y home went bad. When I emailed support I had a response within an hour. I had replacement parts and full instructions within a few days and I’m back up and running. It’s pretty good tech support for a consumer printer.
    – Readily available parts – replacement print plates, different sized nozzles, etc.

    What hasn’t been so great

    – The firmware freezes up from time to time
    – I don’t get the manual positioning settings menu. It doesn’t always go where I think it should
    – Kinda dark – wish it had a light in the work area
    – Early hardware problems – but quickly remedied by great tech support
    – Touchscreen is kinda sensitive to hitting the right spot on small icons
    – DIY enclosure kit shown on the website isn’t available for purchase yet

All in all I’d buy this one again. It’s less expensive than many, easier to use than resin, less experimental and tweaky than other filament printers. The company stands behind their product.

This machine does not finish print jobs. What good is a printer that will not print?

Purchased the Adventurer 5M during prime day sales. It was easy to set up. The first warning was when it did not print the test cube during set up. The hot end and bed both finished heating and the machine froze. After powering down the machine and restarting it, I was able to print the key chain file without issue.

I then connected the machine to WiFi and did a firmware update to 2.7.2 and decided to start printing the DIY enclosure. The files are from their website.

The shorter prints work fine. It printed the cable chain and the hinges. The longer prints, however, always freeze. Three times they have just stopped printing.

If you plan on printing any print that takes longer than 3 hours DO NOT BUY this machine.

If you’re new to 3D printing, this might be the best printer for you.

It’s inexpensive, fast, and accurate. While I’m giving this printer 5 Stars I don’t think you should buy it unless you have budget constraints. I think you should buy the Adventurer 5M Pro. It costs more but comes with some features you might want in the future such as the capability to print ABS or other high-temperature plastics that need an enclosed printer. The Pro has ventilation fans, HEPA/carbon filters, and a camera for observing your prints from the FlashForge software.

you should definitely consider the Adventurer 5M or 5M Pro. It wasn’t for me but nearly ideal for someone just getting into the hobby.

We go it for our daughter bday; so far she has love it and it can be use hours and hours.
As long as you calibrate it works good. Is easy to use and depending on the design it does the job well.

Easy to use.. great on all fronts but 1.. needs less friction on filament spool holder.. problem with tpu as feeder motor has problems gripping and feeding extruder.

My first 3D printer and I’m very happy with it. For less than $500 it’s hard to wrong with this printer. Yes, it’s an older model but does everything I need it to do. The picture of my first serious project with it doesn’t do it justice as I made a design mistake. The face was printed face down against the raft so the back side is smooth but the front is a little rough.

    Good:
    – Very little setup: worked right out of the box though I did need to run through a calibration for some larger prints.
    – Like that it is fully enclosed
    – Flashforge’s slicer is very easy to use.
    – Great beginner’s machine
    – Works with all the Flashforge nozzles

    Not so Good:
    – Build volume (150x150x150) is a little limiting
    – Prints over 4″ have required a raft which is a little wasteful. I had a couple failures (even using a glue stick for better bed adhesion.) I probably just need to tweak some settings but haven’t had the patience to go through the process yet.
    – I’m mainly using 1KG filament spools so I had to create an external mount to hold them.
    – Only comes with the one nozzle
    – Filament feeder can be pretty noisy (clicking). I’ve seen some ways to fix this but haven’t had a chance to try them out.
    – Being limited to Flashforge nozzles

Well, I have to say I am very impressed with this little guy. Since I had been using a 2019 printer of a different brand, with a much larger footprint, when I downsized to this one, I was not expecting the print quality that I am seeing.

Pros: Small footprint, was up and running in under 10 minutes, all metal frame, X,Y,Z axis, nice controller once you get used to it, has handled all types of PLA so far

Cons: Small build limit, not crazy about a filament feed tube, no auto shutoff (the Pro version has it for a couple hundred dollars more), it continued to try to print with an empty feed due to a tangle (but only on the loose sample, never on rolls), I couldn’t get it to connect to our wi-fi, but I didn’t try the 2.4g extender, only the 5g mesh router.

So far, the learning curve was easy. I had a printer before, so that may have helped a lot. But I think the biggest hurdle is always the new software. This particular printer does best with the recommended Orca Slicer. I either download STL files from Thingiverse or make my own STL files from Fusion 360. I import them into Orca Slicer and size and tweak as needed. Then slice the plate, and export to g-code to a memory stick. That then goes into the control panel on the printer itself. Very easy to get to, it’s at the top front of the printer.
It’s now printing a 12+ hour job and I’ll try to post it when it finishes. Aside from these prints in the photos, I have only done a tiny sample tugboat and it came out very smooth.

This printer is amazing, it’s really easy to set up, and it’s really sturdy and fast. I was shocked with how fast it went, it looked like I was watching a video on two times speed. It is also really exact, and super easy to use. Would recommend for beginners who start printing.

The media could not be loaded.

Received this as a gift and I have been impressed on how quick this model is in comparison to my previous Adventurer 3 model. This unit prints faster and the prints still come out great. The print size is larger which is great and the auto self levelling is a nice addition. Make sure to keep it resting on a stable surface as this unit will shake vigorously during some fast movements. The PEI platform that comes with the unit I had to thoroughly scrub down lightly with a green scouring pad and dish soap to remove some slick coating as the glue that came with it did not help. Once the cleaning was done on the surface I have had no further issues since.
