I have a saltwater reef tank and used this as the heart of my system. I read many reviews and its made of a laguna block with a different volute. I am very happy with the pump, It is one of the quietest pumps I have ever heard(or rather didn’t) I would have no hisitation putting this pump in a setup where the tank was in a bedroom/living area. Its currently in a fish room where noise doesn’t matter, but when I enter the room it is VERY quiet.

This pump doesn’t mess around. Silent and powerful. Definitely not disappointed. I needed all of the 3400gph this pump claims, and it seem to be very close. Main manifold is 1.5″ which is larger than the 1.25″ pump fitting, and it tees off to two 3/4″ and one 1″ output. All 3 are valved back by about half. I’ll be adding more tanks and this has plenty of power left for that.

Grate pump loads of flow and pressure and not bad on noise.

This pump moves quite a bit of water but is not nearly as quiet as people say. Mine makes a very noticeable hum, even on its rubber feet and isolated from the plumbing by a silicone hose. Even louder than a Mag 18. A high quality pump that I would not recommend if you want a quiet solution.

seems to be a well built pump and I am very satisfied with it. That being said I needed a pump that would pump 900gph. According to fluval the sp2 should meet my needs however after reading the reviews I decided to upgrade to the sp4 to insure I was able to reach my 900gph. After testing the sp4 I was only able to move 1200 gph not the rated 1800gph. So glad I went with sp4 not the sp2 as I am sure it would not have done the job

I bought this from countryfishgirl and she sent me a malfunctioning pump that got nowhere near the GPH this thing claims. On top of that the thing would not start sometimes and I would have to stick a screwdriver in it to make it work. I sent back and forgot to put a couple parts in the box and she has the nerve to hold my refund hostage and refunded about half of what I paid saying if I did not send about 5-10 dollars in plastic parts she would not refund the full amount as she was wanting to sell this malfunctioning pump that had been opened by me as new!!! That tells me everything I need to know about her.

Working fine so far

This is the 2nd fluval sp6 I am now running on my large aquariums. These pumps are huge but they have to be in order to move such a massive volume of water.
This product arrived on time and well packaged. Was easily removed from the box and set up was fairly straight forward and easy also.
I don’t like that the plug is not grounded but also have never felt any stray voltage from this pump either.
As compared to other somewhat similar pumps, this pump uses less electricity and is a better price point along with being much quieter.
Overall I would rate the fluval sp6 pump as follows:
Shipping speed 8.5/10
Packaging 9/10
Ease of install 8/10
Size 7/10
Energy consumption 8.5/10
Noise level (quietness) 9/10
Flow 9/10
Very happy with this product and would definitely order it again if I ever needed another.

Using this pump on my lifereef vs2-24 skimmer. This pump does an amazing job. It is silent with very little heat transfer. This pump is amazing, just buy it already.

Very quiet and strong. I use it mostly to make dissolved oxygen, not for sump or anything else and this one meets my expectation. This pump can run in the water or dry, as long as you have it filled with water. And this pump is made in Italy
