13months into owner ship and the screen crapped out. Now it’s worse than the pics. Screen is glitching so it’s unreadable. Total waste of money. Used it 2 months ago and it’s was perfect. Now, it’s just out of warranty, and it’s dead. What a joke. At over $400, should have lasted a lifetime, for home use. Which is maybe 4 times a year, at most. So angry and disappointed.

    Update:

Reached out to customer service and after a bit of back and forth, they informed me that they would Replace my unit. So, all i have to cough up is shipping to Calgary, and they will send me a New Unit. Hopefully it will last longer. Obviously, I will be extra careful now, but I’m sure it will be fine.

This was was my first ever Reader, and it was easy to use. Wasn’t looking forward to learning a new machine. Hope this helps.

I was having a “service suspension system” message on my 2016 GMC Yukon Denali, which has the RPO code Z95 for the suspension. The truck comes stock with GM’s MagneRide (magnetic ride control) which has a combination of magnetic shocks in the front and self-leveling shocks in the back that fill with air using a compressor bolted to the rear driver side frame near the wheel well. I originally inspected and replaced the compressor in the back, as I was certain the original had failed. After replacing it, my rear suspension performed better but the “service suspension system” warning continued.

I bought this scan tool in hopes of further investigating the issue, as my simple OBD bluetooth reader + Torque app didn’t show me any codes. There’s a ton of these different devices, but this one was advertised (on the Foxwell website itself) to read the suspension control module (the on board control board that handles the suspension), which is what I needed to read.

This isn’t the cheapest tool, but was certainly cheaper than the more official tools used by GM dealers. I have both a GMC Yukon and a Sierra and do all my own repairs, so I figured it was time. I have to say I was honestly surprised at how solid this little device was. The instructions were clear enough (I didn’t bother registering/updating, I just plugged it into the car and turned the ignition to run by pressing my start button without the brake applied). Once the car was powered up, I used the tool to automatically pull my VIN (it took 5 seconds), and the tool verified my make and model. I then went into the control modules section (versus reading all codes from all control modules), scrolled to the suspension control module, and read the codes. The tool showed me an old code for the compressor (it was currently “passing” but previously had failed) so I was happy to see my initial replacement of the compressor appeared to have solved one issue. It also showed me a C0580-04 (right front shock absorber actuator circuit – open). This one was a surprise to me. I figured it was a loose sensor or something, and was able to see the top of the right front shock from the engine bay. Sure enough, the little sensor connector at the top didn’t look quite right at the plug it goes in to. I unplugged it, fixed the two pins that were a little loose, and replugged it. No more dash warning. I used the scan tool to read the codes again, and this time I only had a historical failure on the sensor. I then used the tool to clear the codes in my suspension control module, and the problem was resolved.

That’s a long review, but I thought it was deserved as I was quite pleased with this little device.

I paid more money thinking it would be able to do more than a simple code reader. However, this scanner is way too slow and takes forever to load data. I mainly bought it for the European cars because that is what it advertised but it doesn’t do any thing that a simple cheap scanner cannot do. I thought about returning it but did not want to go thru the hassle. The tech support is non existent. Good luck finding a phone number for them and forget about being able to talk to someone. Total waste of money.

It already paid for itself since doing my first transmission oil change as opposed to taking it to the dealership. My truck’s oil must be at certain temperature to know if the oil level is correct which this scanner shows. Plus there are functions that most $150 scanner doesn’t do or even show. Lifetime free updates is very nice to have as well. It’s not touch screen though so I didn’t rate that feature.

Had a lot of functions, not everything in the thought it had or maybe it was just to hard to understand and use

This unit is easy to use and works well for a do it yourselfer/shade tree mechanic. Good buy for the money. It helped me diagnose problems on my 2016 Dodge Journey and my 2016 Ram 1500.

I was super excited to buy this product. Foxwell seems to have good support, offers good coverage for cars including Mercedes (they can fix SBC issues) and provide a good-looking, easy-to-use device. The screen is large and readable and the buttons are easy to use. All the controls are responsive and it comes in a solid case. The problem I had with the scanner is that:
    1) It would crash when scanning all the modules (i.e anything on the Gateway or Canbus network caused all sorts of issues because those are separate from the ECU, ABS and Transmission).
    2) Was really slow to communicate with the various modules due to using what looks to be a serial bus at a low bit rate (likely the reason it crashed was a time-out error)
    3) There isn’t a touch screen. At this price point, a touch screen should be nice but not a deal breaker. Maybe all the dirty hands aren’t good for a touch device.
    4) Limited functions for testing (you can read codes, and erase them but cannot trigger most components). The amazing part is that it can turn off the SBC unit and command a flush but cannot seem to call up any ECU functions

I sadly returned this device given that I paid $400 CAD for it, it doesn’t have the “Pro” features that it claims.

Did not work to bleed ABS as advertised for my 2021 Toyota Rav4 Limited. Plus, to see the engine real time parameters (Automatic Transmission fluid Temp), it took up to 10 minutes. Sorry, but for this price, it is way too slow! Did not get technical support from Foxwell until I got Amazon involved. Technical support gave bogus suggestions and finally said my car is not able to get ABS bleed via a scan tool. I responded, I know for a fact my car is able to get an ABS bleed via a scan tool, just not this one, even though they advertise it can. The scan tools that can perform a ABS bleed on my car cost thousands of dollars. When it sounds too good to be true, most likely it is not true.
