My old ones had perished so I needed new ones. Due to having my hip replaced I needed to build up the muscles in my legs. This was a perfect way of doing it. I got heavier ones this time. For walking about the house in they are not too bulky but they may be if using them for the gym.

A lot of reviews said these were huge and those reviewers didn’t lie! These are definitely bigger and heavier than I expected even after reading the reviews. However, I’m still good with them so can’t dang them for that in my rating! Could there be more Velcro to make them tighter around the ankle…yes! But do they still work for my intended purpose…yes! I use them for step ups, walks around the block, leg kicks, leg lifts and jump squats. I don’t think you would be able to run wearing these and if you are you probably don’t need them:-). I’m a small size female so don’t have huge ankles or calf muscles and these aren’t uncomfortable but may need to be occasionally adjusted if worn for an extended period of time. I would also say only buy if you are already use to wearing ankle weights and want to step up your game :-P. So far these seem durable, haven’t had anything leaking out, tearing or ripping.

I had a similar pair years ago that just disappeared. With those, you could remove a weight or add one if you felt the need. So now I got these, which does the job, but very wide for my slim ankles. I was hoping to wear them under my yoga/gym pants, but it’s just too chunky and wide. I use it at hom now to do inner thighs, etc. It works well.

Haven’t purchased ankle weights in years and I was very pleasantly surprised to see how much more comfortable the newer versions are. Just the right amount of cushioning and they don’t slip around. Highly recommend.

I use the 5 pound Gaiam Ankle Weights every day on a 30 minute walk. They work fine. I have very small ankles and they are bulky – I wish there was a way to make them tighter but I do like that they have velcro and not uncomfortable metal pieces that pinch like other brands. They fit loose if you have petite or small ankles. If you get them wet such as walking in the rain, they may stain your shoes and socks in the color of the material, it happened to me with the 5 pound blue and black ones but not with the 4 pound ones I had prior, so just be aware. It washes out easy but sort of annoying that it stains. If you get them wet be careful what they touch up against because the color bleeds out. I purchased these before in 4 pounds and they lasted 6 months before getting a small hole and having the beads come out. The more expensive brands did the same. Overall these are okay. They do what I need them to do. If I could adjust them tighter they would be even better. I chose to purchase them as used through Amazon so they cost less and I didn’t devote a lot of money. I’m glad I have them to boost my walks.
