It was time to upgrade the yoga mat from the basic cheapie I picked up at Wally-world ages ago. I wanted something with a little more cushion but still provided stability for standing balance poses, nice to look at, and provided some grip. It achieves mostly what it says it will do except when it comes to grip. The design on both sides is beautiful (I got seaglass). The cushion is supportive without being flimsy when balancing. My knees feel better when on the mat and no longer need the knee cushions (which is great to not have to reposition and move in a flow practice). Does it stick to the floor– sure does. Does it help me keep my grip on the mat– sorta. It works great until my feet get slightly warm. I am not even sweating, but the minute my body temp goes up a degree or two my feet are sliding around. Would i like to be able to do the splits again some day– sure thing.. But I don’t want to while i am holding a high lunge. I have been using the mat daily for 2 weeks and have been enjoying it minus the starting to slide halfway through a practice.

This mat is so pretty and durable. It’s not thick and cushiony like the first one I bought on here and I’ve come to like that more! It’s solid and provides comfort on hard floor without causing extra sweat and slipping like a thicker mat may.

When I opened the package, there was a very strong chemical smell to the mat. Think noxious fumes invading the entire level of my house. This was anything but faint. I loved the quality and pattern too much to return, so I looked on other reviews to find a solution. I’m new to yoga, so I don’t have the fancy mat cleaners. I used Mrs. Meyer’s Basil cleaner twice on both sides, but it still stunk up the room. I then moved it to the garage for a day and washed it down with Clorox wipes – better, but not something I’d want to be around, let alone put my face on. At this point I’m 2 days in and still haven’t gotten rid of the smell, so I put it outside, hosed it down with water and let it dry outside all day over a chair. The smell was finally gone! I also purchased the Gaiam blocks and there’s a reason they ship those wrapped in plastic… those reeked too! But this time I went straight outside, hosed them down and let them sit on my patio table for the day. By night, they were free of smell too. FINAL SUGGESTED REMEDY: Completely drench in water and let sit outside for the day.
I’m new to yoga, but have horrible joints and was apprehensive of a 6mm mat being thick enough. It’s very comfortable! I can do gate pose on hardwood without knee pain and tree pose without feeling like there’s too much give to balance on. It rolls up and out nice without curling of the corners. I’m only a week in, so I’m definitely not as graceful, or gentle, on the mat as I will be eventually. My mat doesn’t seem to care and takes the beating with grace for me. It’s a very sturdy and patient mat. The colors I chose are no longer available (Mandala Mantra), but I love the navy and red mandala pattern. When I get tired of it I can turn it over, but not any time soon. I love the versatility!

I’m a software engineer burnout, and my workdays go between my standing desk/balance board, and my yoga mat. That’s where you end up after 20 years of sitting. This mat is serving me better than my old Prana cloth-covered neoprene mat, which I had to *very delicately* wash fairly often because the cloth would absorb all your muck. This mat is just foam, and wipes down really easy. It’s also thick enough that it’s easy on the wrists. My only complaint is that it’s only 68 inches long, and I’d prefer a slightly longer one, but that’s on me.

I love the pattern on moth sides of the mat, it is almost exactly as pictured, I will say that the darkest blue moons in the moon cycle are hard to see on the actual mat. The mat is super long too and very comfortable- it feels very high quality. I will say it does have a chemical smell upon opening it but I won’t dock any points for that as it’s to be anticipated with a product like this, I just let it sit in the open air for a couple days and the smell was gone.
