I bought these to try to stabilize my inverted poses while trying to strengthen my grip but they ended up feeling more problematic than helpful. The material is like a standard winter glove. When I was in the downward dog position (on a brand new Manduka mat btw), my hands still slipped forward, but the gloves mostly stayed put which led the gloves to pinch the space between each finger. I guess this means the gloves do their job but it wasn’t a good fit for me if my hands didn’t also stay put.

Wow. Thank goodness I didn’t read any of the leading reviews posted here before I bought these gloves. I love my gloves so much I bought five pairs in the colors of black, pink and green. They not only provided my practice with stability, but they also absorbed the sweat that rolled down my arms in inversions or arm support poses. By the end of class, my gloves were soaked.
Out of consideration for the rubber grippy dots on the palm, I always gently washed my gloves in the sink with soap and water and let them air dry (they are pretty thick and take time to dry this way – hence the purchase of multiple pairs).
I found them a cheaper and more effective solution to the problem of sliding around on a yoga mat than buying a yoga towel. Maybe gloves get a bad rap because they look dorky compared to the cool yoga towels generally used – I was the only one in my classes wearing gloves. Eventually, I traded up to an Aurorae Synergy Microfiber Mat/Towel combination mat and passed the gloves on to my aspiring yogi son. For the beginning yogi, though, Gaiam grippy gloves are a great product through which to build your practice comfortably and affordably.
NOTE: Also offer a solid grip when throwing a slam medicine ball.

Used to love these. Used to be soft, breathable cotton. Just got my new pair and am disgusted. The label says 96% polyester, so they are no long the soft, breathable gloves from yesteryear. They also have a P65 cancer & reproductive harm warning on the label. Shame on Gaiam for taking a once healthy item, and turning it into pure garbage. Why would anyone want to wear itchy polyester, let along something that may cause cancer? Tired of brands taking a good product and turning it to trash. Also, these don’t fit nicely like the cotton ones I used to wear. The fingers are way too short and don’t cover the knuckles. They pinch between the fingers. Time to say goodbye to Gaiam and find a brand that actually cares.

a little extra hand protection while doing downward dog.

I am an avid quilter. Regularly quilter’s gloves cover the whole hand which makes it hard to feel the fabric. They are also one-size and not stretchy. I found these yoga gloves and love them for quilting. They let me feel the fabric with my finger tips while the grippers help me move the fabric through the machine with less effort. The stretchiness of them make them more “one size fits all” friendly. They fit my hands which are not usually large but way too big for regular (none stretchy) quitling gloves which are created on the assumption all quilters are tiny old ladies.

Bought these for use in hot yoga class. They grip well and keep me firmly in place when my mat gets humid in a hot yoga class. They fit well and are not distracting.
とろりん –
軍手並みに分厚いので夏より冬向きです。ヨガのダウンドッグの時にギュッと両手を突き出すとズレますが許容範囲かと思います。
WhiteLotusOM –
Love these, great fit, comfortable and stops my hands from slipping around my yoga mat on the downward dog pose!

I bought these gloves to use on a non-toxic mat, which has less grip than my old PVC one.
– Very grippy on the outside.
– Knit fabric/yarn like those tiny winter gloves that stretch, but the knit on these is quite tight, and they are not that stretchy (maybe they will be in time). I can see them being very hot when it’s not cool weather.
– Good fit for me, but I have small hands and the fingers are tight, but my hands still slip on the inside of the glove (no grips on the inside, obviously). They are snug on my fingers and take some time to get off (unless you peel them off inside out), so I can’t imagine someone with larger hands using these. The cuff is also very snug. In DD, the glove pulls in between my fingers and digs into my hands, but I am adapting by putting more weight on my palms rather than my fingers.
