It’s nice not have to feed 2 pages at a time. but the bin fills very fast and not evenly. when you remove the bin there are tons of shredded papers that fall behind it.

Dozens of contractor bags full of shredded documents and still LOVING this shredder! The trick: no folded sheets, stack sheets and if the shredder doesn’t catch the paper fold the stack and replace with the fold above the rollers. I find some types of paper catch easily without having to do this but for others this is necessary.
Update on shredder: originally gave 4 stars and am updating to 5 stars after couple more weeks work. Have now shredded boxes and boxes of documents. Once you have used this a little bit you get to know what works and how to avoid problems. Love that staples don’t all have to be removed. Have been 10+ times more productive with this shredder than with hand-fed type. LOVE IT! Am shredding things now that I was ready to bring to a professional service. Buying a bigger one for my office. Highly recommended.
Excellent shredder for the right things. The review by Phillip van Allen is right on and very helpful. Have been using this for a couple weeks shredding old business documents and have filled several contractor-size plastic bags. It works great on sheet paper that is not folded: just load the stack in and leave it for a few minutes. Empty the tray and start again. We were able to shred thousands of sheets this way without any problems. For odd sized or folded documents it needs a little help. Again the review mentioned above is very helpful. For stapled or folded sheets it can be hand fed like a regular shredder.
If you are looking for a shredder to get rid of stacks of paper (sheets) this is perfect.

Great idea to be able to “set it and forget it”, but the design of drawing papers down from the middle through rollers has some serious flaws. If a sheet is heavier than average, it jams or runs on and on trying to draw it down into the rollers and will eventually kick on the overheat light. If more than two sheets are stapled, it jams. It simply stops when the bin is “full”, without any indication why. By “full” I mean that there is a pile of shredded paper underneath the rollers, but the front of the drawer is empty so when you look in the window it doesn’t look at all full. Then when you realize what the problem is and pull out the drawer, lots of shredded paper drops on the floor and makes a mess.
If you try to shred credit cards, they must be fed through the vertical slot and be held very straight. If it tips sideways, it jams in the rollers and won’t go through. This is hard to do because the vertical slot on top of the machine is pretty far above the cutters and rollers (in order to leave room for the theoretical stack of paper you’re supposed to be able to leave alone in there). And it can’t shred DVDs or CDs because they are too wide to fit in between the rollers.
I used this for 3 days because I had a lot to shred, but suffered through almost all of it. I had to remove all staples and clips, heavier stock, legal size paper, etc. and shred them manually through the top slot.
Returned. Don’t bother.

Works like a charm. My wife shreds 100+ pages a day, she puts 50 at a time in the shredder and walks away. I used it this past weekend. Had 20 sheets that I tossed in an left the room. It did jam once because one sheet got stuck under the roller. If you don’t want to spend the time to feed 4 or 5 sheet at a time through a shredder this is your machine.

The item claims to let you slip in 60 sheets at one time and it will work for 8 mins of intense shredding. I tested it with 20 only and by the 3rd try it got stuck and then it turned off as the motor was now too hot. It worked for possibly 4 mins. I let it rest for a full evening and tried it the next morning. It worked for another few sheets and motor went hot again and it was 1/2 day of waiting for it to cool down and it only took single sheets through the top feeder and for 2 mins or less before it went hot again and turned off. Keep your money. Get a cheaper model which will probably work better.

Like most people I accumulated a lot of paper, and also like a lot of other people, decided that it was time to get rid of everything I did not absolutely need. I wanted a scanner that could handle the backlog, but could then be used for maintenance. This Swingline product was an Amazon special the day I went looking so I decided to give it a try. I have been mostly happy with it, with a couple of complaints.
First of all, the 25 page feeder works as advertised as long as:
-no pages are stapled together
-the pages are all more or less the same size
-the feeder is not over-filled
If there are pages stapled together, or if there is a random small piece of paper (such as a receipt) mixed in, then it will probably end up jamming. Clearing jams is not a big deal most of the time, but it does detract a bit from the value of having an auto feeder. these complaints aside, the auto feeder did save me a lot of time. I grabbed stacks of paper, placed them in the tray and walked away. Ten minutes later I came back and put some more in. Every 2-3 rounds I emptied the bin with the shredded paper and kept going. I went through dozens of batches over 4 days and by the time I was done I had filled 8 garbage bags of shredded paper, which I dutifully recycled.
The top chute allows you to take care of stapled pages, credit cards, non-standard-sized- items, etc. In fact the top chute is what I mostly use nowadays. It’s powerful enough to handle a few pages at once.
The cross-cut functionality is essential in ensuring data security today, and this device makes reasonable small pieces. I feed bills in diagonally so that I can be reasonably sure that no piece ends up with a complete account number.
it’s quiet enough while operating – certainly quieter than the older shredder I owned previously.
bottom line – I recommend this for people looking to clear up their backlog of paper documents and don’t want to stand around all day feeding documents by hand into a shredder.
